Nutanix ha dado a conocer los resultados de un informe que analiza los principales retos y oportunidades de la adopción de la nube híbrida. Aunque la mayoría de los responsables de TI ve la nube híbrida como el modelo de TI ideal, el informe muestra cómo muchos se enfrentan a dificultades a la hora de adoptarlo -el 70% de las organizaciones afirman que su transformación está tomando más tiempo del esperado-. Sin embargo, el objetivo está claro: casi todos los encuestados (95%) piensan que su compañía se beneficiaría de una implementación híbrida óptima que permita construcciones y operaciones de TI consistentes a través de múltiples nubes, superando muchos de los retos a los que se enfrentan actualmente, desde los silos operativos hasta la escasez de personal.
Independientemente de si las compañías necesitan aprovechar la nube pública para entregar rápidamente escritorios remotos, consolidar sites de recuperación ante desastres, trasladar las cargas de trabajo a una nube privada para evitar las preocupaciones sobre la capacidad de la nube pública, o aprovechar la irrupción de la capacidad bajo demanda, la situación mundial actual ha puesto de relieve la necesidad de una infraestructura TI adaptable para muchas empresas. Pero según detecta Nutanix, «la flexibilidad ya no se limita a utilizar nubes públicas y privadas, sino que requiere experiencia, herramientas y prácticas operativas coherentes en múltiples nubes para simplificar drásticamente la capacidad de trasladar aplicaciones y datos al entorno de nubes más apropiado«.
«Las empresas de hoy en día necesitan liderar con flexibilidad, y un aspecto clave para hacerlo es descentralizar los recursos para que estén más fácilmente disponibles«, afirma Iván Menéndez, country manager de Nutanix Iberia. «Al utilizar múltiples nubes, ya sean públicas, privadas o at the edge, las empresas pueden llevar su infraestructura de TI donde más lo necesiten. Pero, como ha demostrado la investigación, esta flexibilidad sólo es posible con construcciones, operaciones y herramientas consistentes a través de múltiples nubes, lo que hace ideal un entorno de nubes híbridas«.
El informe, encargado por Nutanix y creado por la empresa de investigación de mercados Vanson Bourne, analiza los principales retos a los que se enfrentan actualmente las empresas a la hora de gestionar infraestructuras de nube tanto públicas como privadas. La empresa encuestó a 650 responsables de las decisiones de TI de diversas industrias, tamaños y países en América, Europa, Oriente Medio, África (EMEA) y Asia-Pacífico y Japón (APJ).
– La nube pública por sí sola no siempre es la respuesta: La nube pública revolucionó la industria de la tecnología de la información, ofreciendo más agilidad y eficiencia operativa. Y aunque es ideal para algunas aplicaciones y cargas de trabajo, no lo es para otras, lo que lleva a las empresas a adoptar una infraestructura híbrida. Según la investigación, la mayoría de los encuestados están preocupados por la ejecución de aplicaciones críticas para el negocio en la nube pública, concretamente en torno a la fiabilidad (75%), la portabilidad (73%) y el coste (72%). Además, algunos no pueden trasladar sus aplicaciones más vitales para el negocio, debido a la complejidad o al coste. La necesidad de rediseñar o replantear las aplicaciones (75%) y la complejidad de la migración (71%) son los principales obstáculos que encuentran.
La nube híbrida amplía la brecha de habilidades de TI: Aunque muchas empresas luchan por encontrar talentos de TI cualificados, el problema crece cuando se buscan profesionales que puedan gestionar una infraestructura de nube tanto pública como privada, ya que actualmente los dos entornos requieren habilidades diferentes. La mayoría de las organizaciones (88%) tienen dificultades para asegurar que su personal de TI tenga las habilidades necesarias para gestionar una infraestructura de TI híbrida, y más de la mitad (53%) lo considera una preocupación importante.
– Los vacíos de habilidades crean silos e ineficiencias: Dadas las diferentes habilidades requeridas para gestionar infraestructuras de nube públicas y privadas, las empresas a menudo necesitan confiar en diferentes equipos para crear silos, algo a lo que casi todos los encuestados (95%) se enfrentaron. Y lo que es más importante, suelen tener un impacto en el resultado final, algo aún más preocupante en un momento en que muchas empresas se centran en la optimización de los recursos. Casi la mitad de los encuestados identificaron como preocupaciones la dispersión de recursos (49%), el aumento de costes (45%) y/o el desperdicio de recursos (43%).
La portabilidad es una necesidad y no solo para las aplicaciones: Para la mayoría de las empresas (88%), la concesión de licencias de software es un aspecto clave de una infraestructura de TI híbrida, ya que muchas han tenido dificultades en este ámbito (58%) o en el bloqueo del proveedor (58%) al pasar a la nube pública. Además, casi dos tercios (65%) están dispuestos a considerar la concesión de licencias de suscripción para su infraestructura de TI.
Los negocios buscan flexibilidad. Ya no se trata de elegir entre privado y público, o entre diferentes proveedores de nubes públicas. Según destaca Nutanix, «las organizaciones necesitan una solución que proporcione experiencia, herramientas y prácticas operativas consistentes a través de múltiples nubes para abordar muchos de los desafíos e ineficiencias operativas a los que se enfrentan actualmente. Un entorno de nubes híbridas óptimo proporciona la coherencia que necesitan para aprovechar la plena flexibilidad de las múltiples nubes, ya sean privadas o públicas«.
