El nuevo modelo de consumo de tecnología basado en la nube ha llegado para quedarse. De hecho, como se ha podido constatar en un evento organizado recientemente en Madrid por IDC Research España, en colaboración con Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, sus cifras de crecimiento están superando muchas expectativas depositadas hasta la fecha. Sin ir más lejos, el mercado cloud en España triplicará prácticamente su volumen de negocio para 2023 con respecto a la cifra alcanzada en 2018, puesto que alcanzará para ese año los 2.800 millones de euros.
Por categoría de producto, los mayores crecimientos (de en torno al 30%) se observan en las áreas de IaaS (Infraestructura como Servicio) y PaaS (Plataforma como Servicio). Mientras que, por sectores, los de industria, distribución y servicios son los que están generando un uso más intensivo del cloud en España.
IDC Research España considera que la inversión tecnológica relacionada con la nube se va a disparar estos próximos años. Así, en 2022 alcanzará el 40% del gasto core de IT, cifra que ascenderá al 80% para 2028. “El paso de cloud privada a pública se está apoyando en entornos multicloud e híbridos, para lo que resulta fundamental la optimización de los mismos, es decir, la gestión de varios servicios de cloud, ya sean públicos o privados”, apostilla Ignacio Cobisa, analista senior de la consultora.
En 2024, el 90% de las grandes compañías adoptará tecnologías y herramientas multicloud o híbridas. De hecho, el mercado global de servicios de datos en cloud híbrida crecerá por encima del 20% durante los próximos años.
En el marco de los servicios de cloud híbrida destacan los de integración y orquestación tanto por volumen de mercado -más de 27.000 millones de dólares previstos para 2021-, como por crecimiento estimado -33% anual hasta ese año-. Estas cifras se amparan en la notable evolución que se está produciendo hacia entornos multicloud.
Además, cabe reseñar que el porcentaje de empresas que cuentan con más de un proveedor de cloud no ceja de aumentar en Europa. De hecho, las organizaciones que disponen de 2 o más proveedores de cloud ya alcanzan el 40% del tejido empresarial.
Sin duda alguna, la cloud híbrida se está erigiendo como uno de los claros impulsores de la industria tecnológica. Según estimaciones de IDC Research España, el mercado europeo relativo a infraestructuras cloud crecerá este año una media del 6%, mientras que el correspondiente a servidores x86 lo hará del orden del 3,2%. España supera con creces estos promedios, situándose en el 9,3% y el 11,8%, respectivamente.
Entre las ventajas y oportunidades que la nube proporciona a las organizaciones caben destacar la agilidad y capacidad de crecimiento, así como la escalabilidad que acelera el time to market y que posibilita que las áreas de negocio optimicen su eficiencia. Si bien, probablemente la mayor diferencia de este nuevo fenómeno con respecto a los entornos TI tradicionales radica en las posibilidades que ofrece el pago por uso y, por ende, su capacidad para convertir costes fijos en variables.
No obstante, también se han de enfatizar los desafíos a los que nos enfrentamos al mover cargas de trabajo, almacenamiento o computación a la nube. Y no solo se han de tener en cuenta los retos más conocidos relativos a la seguridad y el cumplimiento, sino también los que tienen que ver con afrontar la complejidad que en muchos casos requiere de recursos especializados y formados para ello, evitar los silos entre distintas nubes, sortear el denominado vendor lock-in o alcanzar la prometida reducción de costes.
Los gestores de centros de datos también se enfrentan a otra serie de retos importantes, como la necesidad de hacer coincidir la capacidad de la infraestructura con los requisitos de carga de trabajo de la red y las aplicaciones, así como la mejora de la utilización de los recursos disponibles. Un claro aliado para la gestión del data center a la hora de hacer frente a estos desafíos es el empleo de la infraestructura definida por software y las tecnologías cognitivas como la Inteligencia Artificial, que facilitan la automatización de procesos, el soporte predictivo, la mejora de la eficiencia energética y la optimización de la seguridad gracias a la detección de ciberataques.
