El mercado de servicios cloud sigue creciendo considerablemente, y se prevé que se acelere en el rango de los próximos tres a cinco años, a medida que las empresas cliente continúan modernizando y optimizando su infraestructura en primera instancia, pero también adaptando su ecosistema de aplicaciones, según Penteo. Otro aspecto que da impulso al mercado son los entornos cloud especializados, ya sea con soluciones verticales típicamente en modo SaaS o transversales típicamente ofrecidas como plataforma PaaS.
La adopción de la nube pública está aumentando debido a su creciente importancia como plataforma de lanzamiento de prácticamente todas las innovaciones tecnológicas (inteligencia artificial, los servicios de datos, blockchain, etc.). Los grandes proveedores a hiperescala, AWS, Azure y Google Cloud Platform –y con Alibaba Cloud empezando a asomar en España–, dominan la cuota de mercado y gasto en el mercado mundial. Todos los integradores de servicios disponen de algún tipo de asociación con estas empresas, materializadas en distintos niveles de certificación y alianzas.
Además, los grandes proveedores están desembarcando físicamente en España (hay previsión de que AWS lo haga a finales de 2022) con lo que los requisitos geográficos, relacionados con la soberanía de datos y otras regulaciones para la prestación de servicios pueden ser todavía más fácilmente abordados.
Adicionalmente existe un conjunto relevante de proveedores, con un alcance geográfico menor, competencia de los hiperescalares que ofrecen sus servicios cloud (normalmente IaaS) y que se diferencian mediante soluciones específicas, gestión de infraestructuras críticas, calidad de servicio o gestión personalizada, próxima y adaptada a necesidades, y que ofrecen servicios de integración propios conformando una oferta interesante para clientes con necesidades de cloud privado, o también para clientes con necesidades más tradicionales, SLAs a medida, u otros.
Las compañías y sus responsables tecnológicos se ven prácticamente obligados a consumir modelos multicloud y modelos híbridos de infraestructura (actualmente, dos de cada tres empresas españolas lo hacen) para aprovechar las capacidades y virtudes de cada mecanismo de provisión, pero también por la necesidad de incorporar los mejores servicios, de distintos proveedores, para cada uno de sus proyectos y cargas de trabajo. También para tener acceso a las plataformas y herramientas para gestionar y optimizar el rendimiento operativo y económico de la infraestructura distribuida (centros de datos propios, servicios cloud, proveedores de servicios gestionados) que permita definir el marco de automatización necesario para entregar, exponer y mantener de forma fiable las tecnologías de la información como un conjunto de servicios bajo demanda y basados en el consumo.
El Edge computing, o la computación en el borde, se vislumbra como el próximo elemento que completa el puzzle de las estrategias de cloud híbrido. Con las últimas mejoras en la tecnología de redes y conectividad, los proveedores de cloud extenderán sus redes hacia el borde y por tanto las alianzas a con los proveedores de telecomunicaciones, de redes de entrega de contenido (CDN) o incluso de provisión de pequeños centros de datos (colocation) serán cada vez más relevantes.
