Tras un año marcado por la aceleración de la transformación digital en empresas, instituciones y sociedad ante la crisis del Covid-19, Red Hat considera que hay tres aspectos qeu marcarán la evolución del negocio TI durante 2021 y supondrán la profundización de la transformación digital, la convergencia de las tecnologías nativas en la nube y la innovación en las plataformas.
Los beneficios de la nube y la infraestructura distribuida fueron evidentes en 2020. En cuanto se desató la pandemia, aquellas empresas e instituciones que habían adoptado un modelo nativo de nube pudieron reaccionar rápidamente y siguieron operando en medio de un panorama completamente incierto. La agilidad y flexibilidad con la que funcionan las organizaciones que han optado por el modelo nativo de la nube no solo es resultado de la tecnología que está detrás de ellas, sino también del cambio cultural que han llevado a cabo.
No se trata de un fenómeno reciente, muchas empresas con visión de futuro han pasado los últimos años haciendo la transición al modelo nativo de la nube. Se trata de organizaciones, muchas de ellas con una larga trayectoria, que se están reinventando porque han comprendido que, para capitalizar la nube, la automatización y otras tecnologías, tienen que cambiar desde sus cimientos. Estas organizaciones lo han hecho adoptando los principios del código abierto, invirtiendo en las personas y desarrollando nuevos procesos y estructuras. Siempre debe ser la cultura de la organización la que debe marcar la estrategia digital, y no al revés.
El próximo año, esperamos ver a más organizaciones, especialmente a aquellas marcas reconocidas, adoptando el modelo nativo de la nube. Esto les dará la base para empezar a ser disruptores en su propio entorno, y tal vez crear nuevos mercados, proporcionando nuevos servicios a nuevos clientes. Estas organizaciones maduras han tomado la delantera de los hiperescaladores y pronto comenzarán a imprimir su nueva identidad en el panorama empresarial.
Convergencia de las tecnologías nativas de la nube
La mayor disponibilidad de tecnologías como la nube, inteligencia artificial, machine learning, Edge computing y 5G, por nombrar solo algunas, combinada con un mejor entendimiento de las posibilidades que ofrecen, permitirá a los equipos internos comenzar a probar nuevos conceptos e ideas. Los que ya están contribuyendo a proyectos de código abierto, y participando en las fases iniciales de las comunidades, podrán aprovechar los avances que se están produciendo en el ámbito del código abierto. Esto acelerará el desarrollo de aplicaciones y dará lugar a nuevos casos de uso basados en la recopilación y procesamiento de datos en tiempo real.
En general, la disposición hacia la IA, ML, 5G, edge computing y otras tecnologías estará más arraigada. Veremos a las empresas trabajando dentro de los parámetros de las tecnologías emergentes para sacar lo mejor de ellas. 2021 sacará a la luz el lado práctico de las empresas a medida que desarrollan nuevas capacidades para convertirse en organizaciones nativas de la nube. Además, la confluencia de tecnologías que veremos a lo largo del año inspirará un renovado interés en la tecnología con la que algunos se estaban desilusionando. Ayudará a impulsar la innovación y el desarrollo de nuevas plataformas, aplicaciones y servicios hasta bien entrada la próxima década.
Innovación dentro de la economía de plataformas
En los últimos años, las grandes empresas han empezado a reinventarse como organizaciones de plataformas. La economía de plataformas ofrece muy buenas oportunidades de crecimiento, ya que facilita la diversificación y la creación de ecosistemas al favorecer la asociación con otros actores, lo que posibilita entrar a otros sectores con nuevas propuestas. También hace posible crear nuevos mercados que conecten a los clientes con otros proveedores. Uber empezó como un servicio de taxi, y ahora ofrece el servicio de entrega de comida y alquila patinetes eléctricos.
Las oportunidades que ofrece la economía de plataformas suponen un reto para los Centros de Innovación (también conocidos como Innovation Labs) de las grandes empresas, ya que tendrán que aportar una nueva visión del mercado y proporcionar la resiliencia necesaria para dar soporte a estos nuevos modelos de negocios basados en la economía de plataformas. Entre sus desafíos estarán desarrollar nuevos productos y encontrar nuevas formas de escalarlos, al mismo tiempo que ayudan a la empresa a explorar nuevos entornos.
Estos Centros de Innovación pueden aprovechar las metodologías y soluciones de código abierto que les permiten desarrollar productos más rápidamente y construir nuevas plataformas ágiles. Esto les proporciona el marco para coordinar las personas y los recursos necesarios para desarrollar propuestas convincentes para el nuevo estilo del negocio.
Los equipos de innovación tienen una oportunidad de oro para llegar a nuevos campos, integrar nuevas tecnologías, construir ecosistemas e impulsar nuevos resultados empresariales. Algunos fracasarán inevitablemente, pero aquellos que acepten el reto ofrecerán soluciones sostenibles que permitirán a sus organizaciones resurgir como empresas disruptivas con gran proyección.
