Según José María González, CEO y fundador de JMG Virtual Consulting, el escritorio virtual (VDI) es la herramienta perfecta para el teletrabajo.
La bajada de incidencia en los casos de coronavirus, entre el comienzo del verano y el inicio del otoño, había devuelvo a muchos trabajadores a sus puestos presenciales. Sin embargo, todo volvió a cambiar a finales de noviembre. Ante el incremento de la incidencia del COVID-19, en prácticamente todos los países del mundo y causada por la nueva variante del virus Omicron, son miles las empresas que regresaron al teletrabajo como medida para evitar contagios entre sus trabajadores.
El aumento de la incidencia del coronavirus, causado por el descontrolado ritmo de expansión de la variante Omicron, está haciendo que empresas, de toda tipología y tamaño, se estén replanteándose su política laboral en cuanto a la presencialidad en los centros de trabajo. El teletrabajo ha resultado ser una herramienta eficaz para reducir los contagios entre los trabajadores y, además, evitar que la actividad laboral se pare. Pese a todo, pese a los datos, parece que en España el teletrabajo no consigue arrancar del todo. Por lo menos, eso es lo que parecen indicar los datos de informe publicado por el Observatorio Nacional de Tecnología y Sociedad (ONTSI), dependiente de la Secretaría de Estado de Digitalización, a partir de datos sobre teletrabajo de la Encuesta de Población Activa del INE. (el estudio es de 2020 pero puede servir como referencia): durante los últimos tres meses de aquel año solo el 8% de trabajadores teletrabajaron más de la mitad de los días.
Desde que comenzara la pandemia, en marzo de 2020, muchas han sido las empresas que han puesto en marcha planes sanitarios y protocolos de seguridad para sus trabajadores. Esto incluye el fomento del teletrabajo pero, también, la creación de equipos burbuja de trabajadores y la incentivación, entre los mismos, de la vacunación temprana, entre otras medidas. Sobre la amplia aplicación del teletrabajo habla un estudio de 2020 que revela cuales fueron los niveles de aplicación de esta medida en distintos países del mundo:
En este contexto de máxima extensión del teletrabajo las empresas tienen la necesidad de preparar sus infraestructuras digitales. Necesitan asegurar dos elementos básicos. Por una parte, una máxima velocidad de transmisión de datos. Por otra, asegurar el mayor nivel de seguridad posible para sus transmisiones, a fin de evitar posibles ciberataques. José María González, CEO y fundador de JMG Virtual Consulting, señala algunas medidas a tomar y herramientas a implementar, por las empresas, a la hora de desarrollar sus estrategias de teletrabajo:
1. Planificación anticipada de la capacidad de interconexión
Al menos un 40% debería quedar libre para posibles aumentos del tráfico de datos.
2. Automatización y virtualización
Esto implica que parte del ecosistema de interconexión puede mantenerse y supervisarse en remoto. Además, gracias a la interfaz de cliente abierta que tiene cada empresa (API), los clientes pueden ajustar de forma independiente el ancho de banda que necesitan.
3. VDI y Escritorios virtuales
Una infraestructura de escritorios virtuales (VDI) es perfecta para el teletrabajo, ya que mantiene seguros a los trabajadores frente a posibles contagios de COVID-19. Además, les permite seguir trabajando con normalidad (dentro de la excepcionalidad de la situación, claro). Soluciones de escritorio como servicio (Desktop as a Service, DaaS) y, también, aplicaciones enfocadas cada vez más a los dispositivos móviles son una alternativa viable para mantener la actividad laboral de las empresas.
