UnaBiz ha analizado, por segundo año, el total de dispositivos conectados a su red en 2021. Según esta valoración, la capital roza el 40%, Cataluña un 11,84% y Andalucía un 10,57%.
Andalucía es ya la tercera comunidad autónoma con mayor implantación de la Internet de las cosas (IoT) en su territorio, compartiendo podio por primera vez con Madrid y Cataluña, en detrimento de Baleares, que cae una posición. Es la principal conclusión de la segunda edición del “Mapa del Internet del IoT en España”, un análisis llevado a cabo por UnaBiz, proveedor de servicios de IoT y primer operador global de redes 0G, en base a los dispositivos conectados a su red en España.
Para llevar a cabo este estudio, Sigfox ha analizado el total de dispositivos conectados a su red, presente en el 75% del territorio para conocer, al igual que el año pasado, qué regiones y sectores han liderado la implantación de tecnología IoT en el país, analizando un total de 4.400.000 dispositivos, 200.000 más que en la pasada edición del Mapa del IoT en España.

Por otro lado, la implantación de esta tecnología sigue siendo muy desigual un año más: mientras que 5 comunidades autónomas aglutinaron 3 de cada 4 dispositivos conectados a internet en 2021, hace falta sumar el total de las 8 últimas para alcanzar el 6%. Además de Madrid (38,25%), Cataluña (11,84%) y Andalucía (10,57%), destacan en el ranking de mayor número de dispositivos conectados Baleares (7,70%) y País Vasco (4,76%).
Es decir, según estos datos, las 3 primeras comunidades concentran más de la mitad de los dispositivos conectados mediante IoT en España. El liderazgo de Madrid es indiscutible, pasando prácticamente duplicando su porcentaje sobre el total. Por otro lado, cabe destacar las cifras de Andalucía, que entra en el podio y sigue muy de cerca a Cataluña, que ocupa el segundo puesto.

En contraposición, Extremadura, Cantabria y Asturias son las comunidades con menor cuota de implantación de dispositivos IoT, no superando ninguna de ellas el 1% sobre el total.
Nota: no figuran Ceuta y Melilla por presentar porcentajes no significativos.
En cuanto a los sectores más maduros en la implantación, destacan facility management (52,13%), utilities (21,13%) y la agricultura (15,27%). Precisamente, este último destacaba en el I Mapa del IoT por ser el sector con mayor implantación de dispositivos en 2020, con un 27,21%, cifra que ha descendido por el crecimiento de otros sectores.

En cuanto a los casos de uso más destacados, en sector de la agricultura, por ejemplo, IoT se está utilizando principalmente para la monitorización de ganado y cultivos. Dentro de las utilities, los dispositivos IoT están siendo de gran utilidad para gestionar de manera inteligente el agua o los tanques de gas mientras que, en el sector con más dispositivos conectados, facility management, gana terreno la gestión de residuos, el control de plagas y todo lo relacionado con la eficiencia energética y la sostenibilidad.
Tomando de referencia las tres comunidades con más dispositivos conectados, Madrid, Cataluña y Andalucía, se puede observar cómo el sector del facility management sigue siendo el que más peso tiene: en el caso de Madrid, supone el 86% de los dispositivos conectados (seguido de utilities y agricultura, 5% y 1%, respectivamente); en Cataluña, el 50% (seguido de agricultura y utilities, 16% y 14%); y en Andalucía, el 40% (seguido de agricultura y utilities, 22% y 18%).
Continuando con el ranking, otras áreas de actividad destacadas por su elevada proporción de dispositivos conectados son el retail (5,54%) o la automoción (2,85%).
“Los datos reflejan el avance respecto al año pasado, aunque siguen existiendo distintas velocidades de implantación y uso del IoT en nuestro país”, destaca Manuel Álvarez, managing director de UnaBiz en España. “Tomando de referencia los datos del pasado año, debemos destacar el trabajo de comunidades como Andalucía para fomentar y liderar la economía digital. Avanzar hacia la digitalización de los territorios y conseguir mejorar la conectividad debe formar parte de los objetivos de organismos públicos, pero también de empresas. Esperamos que este análisis ofrezca una hoja de ruta para mejorar” subraya Álvarez.
