Actualmente, la “Industria 4.0”, o la “Cuarta Revolución Industrial”, que combina técnicas avanzadas de producción y operaciones con tecnologías inteligentes que se integrarán en las organizaciones, las personas y los activos, son dos de los fenómenos que más atención acaparan en foros económicos y dentro de la mayoría de empresas. Pero la realidad es que la implementación de esta industria está todavía en sus inicios en las compañías europeas. En este contexto, España lidera la transformación hacia la “Industria 4.0”, ya que un 29% de las empresas españolas ha comenzado con la transformación digital en los procesos de producción, por encima del 23% que presentan otros países de Europa. Este es el resultado de una encuesta realizada por el instituto de investigación de mercados YouGov en nombre del Instituto de Investigación Handelsblatt y TeamViewer, a 1.452 directivos en diez países europeos.
Parala mayoría de los ejecutivos encuestados, el concepto de «Industria 4.0» describe un enfoque multidimensional para digitalizar sus empresas. Al mismo tiempo, para tres cuartas partes, incluye el uso de la tecnología y los datos para digitalizar el proceso de producción, centrándose en las máquinas, así como también el uso de la realidad aumentada (RA) y la inteligencia artificial (IA) para apoyar los procesos manuales de los trabajadores a través de la tecnología digital. Asimismo, más del 70% afirmó que esta transformación dará lugar a mejores condiciones laborales, más seguridad en el lugar de trabajo y una nueva cultura empresarial.
Según la encuesta, las tecnologías y megatendencias más importantes que impulsarán en un futuro la digitalización de la producción en las empresas son la Ciberseguridad (27%), las plataformas digitales (25%), el Internet de las Cosas (IoT) (25%) y los servicios en la nube (24%). Mientras que, por el contrario, se espera que los Chatbots (12%) y el Blockchain (12%) tengan un papel menor.
La mayoría de los directivos que participaron en el sondeo asocian el uso de tecnologías innovadoras en la producción con un aumento de la eficiencia (82%). De igual forma, en cuanto a las ventajas que esperan, mencionaron la mejora de la calidad y el nivel de servicio (81%), la reducción de costes (81%), el refuerzo en la seguridad, la salud y la protección de los empleados, y la seguridad de los edificios y de la información (80%).
Por el contrario, la investigación concluye también que el tiempo y el coste que supone (32%) es actualmente el mayor problema para digitalizar la producción de las empresas. Además, la seguridad informática (28%) y la seguridad de los datos (25%) desempeñan un papel importante, así como la incompatibilidad entre las máquinas existentes y las nuevas tecnologías (26%). Por otro lado, sólo unas pocas compañías consideran que la falta de personal (16%), la falta de aceptación entre los empleados (16%) o la falta de prioridad entre los directivos (15%) son los principales obstáculos para la transformación digital de la producción.
La encuesta hace especial hincapié en el potencial del Internet de las Cosas (IoT), las soluciones de Realidad Aumentada (RA) y la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) para digitalizar la producción. Según la investigación, una gran parte de los responsables de la toma de decisiones encuestados ven aplicaciones potenciales para el IoT (78%), la IA (72%) y la RA (70%) dentro de la producción de sus empresas.
En cuanto al IoT, se prevé que las principales aplicaciones en la producción sean la automatización de las transacciones de pedidos (37%), la comunicación entre máquinas (33%), el análisis predictivo (32%) y el control de máquinas a distancia (31%). De igual forma, para la RA, los ejecutivos ven el mayor potencial en la garantía de calidad (38%), el montaje, el mantenimiento y la reparación (36%) y la optimización del proceso de producción (36%). Mientas que, para la IA, los directivos ven posibles aplicaciones en la supervisión de la calidad de la producción y la gestión del rendimiento (35%), la predicción de fallos y el mantenimiento predictivo (31%), la supervisión de las medidas de seguridad y cumplimiento (31%) y la previsión de la demanda y la planificación de la producción (31%).
