Un empleo para toda la vida es algo que ya no está en la mente de la mayoría de jóvenes, y no tan jóvenes, debido principalmente a la flexibilidad del actual mercado laboral. Pero esta idea clásica de un contrato indefinido en una empresa donde trabajar durante bastantes años, o incluso hasta la jubilación, parece también del siglo pasado. Los propios empleados buscan crecer más rápido a través de proyectos interesantes, aprender constantemente y afrontar nuevos retos en diferentes países, ciudades, sectores y posiciones de lo más diversas.
Esta nueva mentalidad es especialmente relevante dentro del sector IT, donde el empleo temporal es más relevante que nunca. No estamos hablando de un contrato temporal de verano, ni con un salario mínimo, sino de un buen empleo, con nóminas altas, buenas condiciones de trabajo, con perfiles muy formados y con unos requisitos técnicos muy demandados. Esta es la realidad de cada vez más profesionales del ámbito digital, que le ven más sentido a trabajar por proyectos de entre uno y tres años para tener una proyección de crecimiento mucho más rápida y cualitativa en diferentes compañías, sin necesidad de “casarse” con ninguna.
¿Y qué ganan las empresas con ello? En un mundo cada vez más especializado y digital, las compañías necesitan externalizar servicios tecnológicos. La crisis de la covid-19 ha obligado a muchas empresas a transformarse digitalmente para mantenerse a flote y sobrevivir. Para estas, es clave tener flexibilidad y reducir los riesgos de contratación, sin renunciar a talento técnico capaz de desarrollar proyectos digitales específicos.
Este modelo, que ya es un éxito en países como Alemania, Reino Unido, Francia e Italia, también tiene sus detractores por ser considerado un impulsor del trabajo temporal. Pero en este caso, se trata de un empleo temporal de calidad que en realidad favorece la flexibilidad, el avance y la creación de la ocupación. Lo habitual en el sector digital es que el ciclo de vida de un profesional en una misma empresa sea de entre tres y cuatro años, por lo que es habitual que vayan a buscar proyectos retadores que aporten valor en su trayectoria y que les permitan trabajar en diferentes empresas líderes.
Y es que el sector tecnológico es muy volátil, y poder trabajar en diferentes proyectos que se adecuan a las necesidades de los profesionales, es una opción cada vez más demandada. La práctica totalidad de los profesionales, una vez finalizado un proyecto, en menos de tres semanas ya tienen otro encima de la mesa. En definitiva, si hay una cosa clara es que la mayoría de los candidatos están encantados con este modelo, igual que las compañías, porque aceleran su carrera aportando un valor añadido incalculable a la vez que tienen la oportunidad de trabajar en todo tipo de empresas punteras liderando la transformación digital.
