La tecnología conectada está jugando un papel clave para que empleados y profesionales puedan seguir trabajando durante la pandemia. Las empresas y sus sistemas informáticos deben seguir evolucionando en este campo para poder dar soporte a las nuevas demandas de trabajo en remoto, ya que el volumen de datos será cada vez mayor. Por eso es fundamental evaluar cómo afectarán dichos cambios a las diferentes industrias y cómo repercutirán en las necesidades de almacenamiento.
Millones de personas en todo el mundo se han visto obligados a trabajar desde casay el teletrabajo se ha disparado en muy poco tiempo. De hecho, según el último informe de Adecco, España cuenta con 2,86 millones de personas que teletrabajan al menos ocasionalmente; 1,2 millones más de teletrabajadores que hace un año. Si miramos hacia el futuro de las videoconferencias, con la ayuda de la Inteligencia Artificial, la experiencia de usuario y la eficiencia de las reuniones de equipo será cada vez mejor. Las videoconferencias con IA pueden identificar el mejor momento para todos los asistentes, eliminar el ruido de fondo en las reuniones, generar una transcripción automática del debate e incluso compartir listas de acciones y notas.
Durante los meses iniciales de la pandemia, mientras los colegios y universidades estaban cerrados, los gobiernos solicitaron a las administraciones y profesores que modificaran, de un día para otro, el modelo de enseñanza. Pasando de ser completamente presencial aun modelo 100% online. El resultado de este nuevo modelo de enseñanza desencadenó una mayor necesidad de almacenamiento de datos personales. Los alumnos y docentes necesitaban contar con discos duros internos, discos SSD o unidades de escritorio para poder hacer copias de seguridad de sus tareas, documentos y proyectos. La automatización ya era, antes de la pandemia, uno de los principales objetivos para aquellas empresas que buscaban agilizar los procesos para mejorar la eficiencia, el control, la precisión y la seguridad de su organización. La pandemia ha dejado claros los argumentos a favor y ha desencadenado un incremento en su uso.
En un caso como el actual, en el que se ha requerido un distanciamiento social, tener una cadena de suministro automatizada es una ventaja clara para evitar el atasco de tareas y para no poner en peligro a los trabajadores. La crisis sanitaria también ha creado una oportunidad para robots, drones o coches autónomos ya que permiten una entrega de productos más eficiente y sin contacto.
Numerosas empresas y organizaciones han tenido que cancelar o posponer sus eventos públicos. Los organizadores de eventos se han visto obligados a replantearse su estrategia para este tipo de reuniones, pasando a ser totalmente virtuales u ofreciendo un híbrido entre sesiones presenciales y online para conectar y atraer a su público. El sector de los juegos y deportes online siguen creciendo en popularidad. Para 2023, se prevé que los 2.700 millones de jugadores que existen en el mundo gasten más de 180.000 millones de euros en videojuegos, en particular en juegos móviles y, potencialmente, en dispositivos de juego portátiles.
Por otro lado, el poder de la nube nos ha permitido transmitir vídeos directamente a nuestros dispositivos. Sin embargo, el cambio al cloud DVR está presentando grandes desafíos para los proveedores de servicios debido al crecimiento vertiginoso de las bibliotecas de contenidos. De hecho, Cisco prevé que el tráfico IP global alcance los 4ZBs en 2022, siendo el 82% de ellos vídeo. Y para ese mismo año, se estima que el tráfico en horas punta crecerá a una tasa anual del 37%, hasta 5 veces más que en 2018.
La situación actual ha empujado a las empresas a acelerar su transformación digital. Tanto organizaciones privadas como organismos públicos están aumentando de forma considerable la capacidad de almacenamiento de sus sistemas, acelerando la computación en la nube y compartiendo recursos de almacenamiento flash desagregados para asegurarse de que cuentan con las capacidades y herramientas adecuadas para poder dar servicio y gestionar las tecnologías conectadas.
El modelo de vida a distancia con nuevos sistemas informáticos ha demostrado su eficacia en todo el mundo, y eso podría ser un buen augurio para las empresas, incluso después de la pandemia.
