La tecnología móvil, la Inteligencia Artificial y el Cloud son ahora las tres tecnologías con mayor impacto en los negocios.
Las empresas que utilizaron de forma intensiva la tecnología durante la pandemia han mostrado un mejor rendimiento que las que no lo hicieron, según el estudio de IBM “Digital Acceleration”. El estudio desvela que estas empresas, pertenecientes a 12 sectores económicos donde la tecnología es un factor diferenciador de competitividad, lograron de media 6 puntos porcentuales de ingresos extra por implementar dichas tecnologías en comparación con su competencia. Algunas industrias que destacan en este aspecto son el comercio al por menor, donde las empresas que utilizaron la tecnología de forma intensiva obtuvieron 16 puntos más de ingresos que sus competidores, el sector energético con 12 puntos más, los seguros con 10 más, o los viajes, con 9 puntos porcentuales más.
El estudio destaca que aquellas tecnologías que más impactan en el rendimiento de los negocios han cambiado durante la pandemia. La tecnología móvil, la inteligencia artificial y el cloud son ahora las tres tecnologías más estratégicas. Algunas como el IoT, que encabezaban el ranking antes de la pandemia, ocupan ahora el sexto y último lugar. Por el contrario, una vez iniciada la crisis, las empresas están un 74% más dispuestas a usar la nube híbrida en sus procesos de negocio para mejorar su seguridad y resiliencia. Por otro lado, seis de cada diez organizaciones han adoptado la IA para mejorar la satisfacción de sus clientes.
Utilizar de forma conjunta estas tecnologías puede actuar como un catalizador para el éxito a corto plazo, además de proporcionar la base para transformar el futuro de la organización. En este sentido, el estudio muestra cómo la nube es la tecnología que más ha contribuido a generar ingresos durante la pandemia en 11 de las industrias analizadas, sobre todo en el sector científico, la atención médica, aeroespacial, defensa, petróleo, así como el sector turístico y de transportes. En estas industrias, las empresas que habían invertido más en la nube antes de la COVID-19 obtuvieron resultados significativamente mejores en términos de ingresos durante la pandemia.
Por su parte, la IA ha sido la tecnología diferenciadora capaz de mejorar el rendimiento empresarial en nueve industrias como, por ejemplo, el sector financiero, los productos químicos, industriales y científicos, donde las empresas que habían realizado una inversión significativa en IA obtuvieron mayores ingresos durante el COVID-19 en comparación con las organizaciones que no hicieron uso ella. Por otro lado, la tecnología móvil supone una mejora para los ingresos de la mitad de las industrias analizadas, destacando en sectores como la venta minorista, los seguros y la automoción.
Del estudio se desprenden algunos factores clave que han guiado a las empresas con mejor rendimiento hacia el éxito durante los meses de pandemia, adoptando diferentes tecnologías. La nube destaca como una herramienta fundamental en las seis capacidades que se describen a continuación y la IA, el IoT y la automatización comienzan a ganar importancia en dichas capacidades. Los pilares clave son:
Agilidad y eficiencia: las empresas con mejor rendimiento utilizaron la nube híbrida para desarrollar su negocio de forma ágil un 93% más que su competencia.
Compromiso con el cliente: las empresas que destacan por un mayor rendimiento utilizan la nube un 60% más que sus rivales para dar un servicio de atención al cliente consistente.
Cadena de suministro y operaciones: tres de cada cuatro organizaciones con un mejor rendimiento consideran el IoT importante para sus operaciones, un 33% más que las demás empresas. La IA también es clave en esta categoría, ya que las empresas con mejores resultados son un 54% más proclives a utilizarla para planificar la cadena de suministro.
Resistencia TI y continuidad del negocio: las empresas con mejor rendimiento adoptaron la nube como un diferenciador frente a su competencia, para mejorar la seguridad y la resistencia de los procesos comerciales críticos, utilizándola un 71% más que otras empresas.
Personal: las empresas con mejor rendimiento son cinco veces más proclives a procesar y analizar los datos internos y los externos para mejorar la gestión de sus plantillas. Estas organizaciones utilizan la IA para la comunicación, desarrollo y formación de los empleados un 85% más que otras empresas.
Ciberseguridad: las organizaciones con mayor éxito son un 71% más proclives a utilizar IA para recopilar y evaluar las ciberamenazas. Por su lado, la nube es utilizada un 71% más por estas empresas para mejorar la seguridad de los procesos comerciales críticos y la IA un 37% más que su competencia para responder a incidentes de seguridad.
