“Las regiones que dominen las nuevas tecnologías tendrán mucha ventaja, esa ventaja se gestará en hubs de innovación”, ha asegurado en reiteradas ocasiones Yuval Noah Harari, el historiador y autor de ‘Sapiens’. En esa carrera por posicionarse como un referente en el ecosistema global de innovación y emprendimiento, Madrid no se debe quedar atrás y así lo defiende MIDE (Madrid Innovation Driven Ecosystem)
Las empresas ubicadas en Madrid acumulan un 36% de la inversión total en innovación de todo el país, lo que permite a la ciudad posicionarse como el epicentro de la innovación española. Estos son sólo algunos de los datos extraídos del informe ‘Radiografía de la Innovación y Emprendimiento en Madrid’ realizado por MIDE (Madrid Innovation Driven Ecosystem) en colaboración con Impact Hub y UPM (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid); presentado esta mañana.
El estudio busca analizar la situación del emprendimiento y la innovación en Madrid desde la perspectiva de MIDE, una iniciativa creada a partir del programa REAP (Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program) impartido por el MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) de la que forman parte Calidad Pascual, IBM, Ferrovial, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Unlimiteck, Alcorcón eCity, Tetuan Valley e Impact Hub.
Alberto Rodríguez, CEO y Co-fundador de The CUBE y Tomás García, Director Comercial de Industria, Telco&Media y Utilities en IBM han sido los responsables de la presentación de los datos esta mañana. Además, también ha intervenido Javier Sánchez, Managing Director de MIDE, quien ha apuntado que “el fomento del ecosistema de innovación de una región pasa por mejorar la calidad de las conexiones y enlaces entre los diferentes actores (corporaciones, startups, facilitadores y la universidad) y MIDE tiene un papel relevante como conector activo en la búsqueda de sinergias”.
Según muestra la ‘Radiografía de la Innovación y el Emprendimiento en Madrid’ uno de los retos principales es establecer una ‘Marca Madrid’ con la creación de una agenda común vinculada a la Administración Pública a nivel país y a nivel local, que debe adoptar un rol más activo en el desarrollo de la innovación creando condiciones que favorezcan su desarrollo y el emprendimiento; así como el fortalecimiento de un vínculo importante entre el sector privado y educativo, directo y activo con el fin de fomentar el crecimiento de la innovación.
Aunque todavía queda mucho por hacer, el informe sí destaca cómo la ciudad de Madrid tiene ya bastante pasos dados, al ser uno de los polos de atracción de innovación, gracias al alto nivel de cualificación de su población con un 20% de los egresados del país; a ser la sede de un 65% de las empresas españolas del Ibex 35; a su calidad de vida, ya que está considerada como una de las 3 ciudades preferidas de los expatriados para vivir; a su localización estratégica y a su relevante infraestructura que la convierten en punto interesante de enlace con los mercados europeos, de Oriente Medio y de Latinoamérica, aprovechando la conexión cultural e idiomática.
El sector privado madrileño destaca por su gran adaptación a este nuevo talento a tenor de los datos analizados, gracias a herramientas como el Intraemprendimiento con programas sólidos como fondos de inversión propios o aceleradoras. Además, cada vez coge más fuerza el Open Innovation, la búsqueda proactiva de nuevas ideas o iniciativas fuera de la empresa.
Pero, la innovación está en el ADN de las compañías según MIDE, dado que el Departamento de Innovación forma parte de los planes estratégicos organizacionales, la innovación es promovida como mentalidad o valor corporativo, incluida en el proceso de toma de decisiones estratégicas de las empresas. No es sólo una cuestión vinculada al negocio, más bien se trata de una filosofía transversal a toda la organización, una mentalidad compartida por todo el equipo profesional de la corporación, es decir, un medio para conseguir mayor eficiencia y competitividad.
Por último, en la presentación ha tenido lugar una mesa redonda titulada ‘Una visión multi-stakeholder del ecosistema’ en la que han participado Izanami Martínez de The Notox Life;Paloma Castellano de Wayra Madrid; Inma Martínez de AXA; Vicente Parras, Subdirector General de Innovación Tecnológica en la Comunidad de Madrid; Ángel Niño, delegado de Área de Innovación y Empleo en el Ayuntamiento de Madrid y Rocío Álvarez-Ossorio de EAE Invierte.
Todos los ponentes han estado de acuerdo en la necesidad de posicionar a Madrid como referente en el ecosistema emprendedor y la innovación. “Tenemos el talento, la localización geográfica, la formación, pero debemos seguir trabajando para crecer y buscar nuestro máximo potencial”, ha asegurado Izanami Martínez de The Notox Life. “El emprendimiento es un motor de creación de empleo de calidad. Tenemos que demostrar a la sociedad que esta oportunidad es para todos”, ha asegurado Vicente Parras, Subdirector General de Innovación Tecnológica en la Comunidad de Madrid.
Aunque ya hay trabajo hecho, como ha asegurado Paloma Castellano de Wayra Madrid quien ha puesto en valor “la evolución tan brutal de Madrid como ciudad emprendedora en estos años, en comparación con otras ciudades europeas. Estamos destinados a ser un referente de innovación a nivel europeo”. Mientras que Ángel Niño, delegado de Área de Innovación y Empleo en el Ayuntamiento de Madrid, ha aprovechado para anunciar que desde el Ayuntamiento “vamos a abrir otras dos aceleradoras de Madrid Emprende, el reto es acercar la Administración a los emprendedores para posicionar Madrid en el TOP 3 mundial de hubs de innovación”.
