El mercado global de nubes públicas llegará a 178 mil millones de dólares este año, frente a 146 mil millones en 2017, según Forrester Research. La adopción de la nube pública en las empresas cruzará el 50 por ciento por primera vez. Con tantas organizaciones grandes descargando recursos computacionales para enfocarse en iniciativas digitales estratégicas, el punto de inflexión era inevitable.
Aquí, CIO.com analiza las tendencias clave que configuran la adopción de la nube en la actualidad.
Aumento de la nube múltiple
Los CIO están apostando por llevar las aplicaciones a dos y a veces tres nubes públicas. Por ejemplo, Honeywell utiliza IBM y Microsoft Azure, y General Electric y Accenture consumen servicios de AWS y Azure. Los CFO están fomentando este enfoque para evitar poner demasiadas aplicaciones en una sola canasta de nubes para mantener sus opciones abiertas.
Pero esto sigue siendo más fácil decirlo que hacerlo. El problema aparece cuando se trata de servicios de redes, aplicaciones y desarrolladores. Las empresas harían bien en usar plantillas que aseguren la portabilidad de las aplicaciones y los datos entre los proveedores. Forrester recomienda que los CIO lleven a cabo un análisis exhaustivo de riesgo / recompensa y creen un plan de mitigación de riesgos.
Los CIO se toman en serio la recuperación ante desastres
Las empresas operan tradicionalmente centros de datos múltiples que proporcionan redundancia para la mayoría de las aplicaciones críticas que se ejecutan en las instalaciones. Ese enfoque aún no se ha traducido en servicios públicos de computación en la nube, lo que aumenta el riesgo de una interrupción que tiene consecuencias desastrosas para el negocio.
Pero a medida que más CIO reconozcan la importancia de la red de seguridad virtual adoptarán estrategias de varias nubes, ejecutarán copias de su software con varios proveedores de la nube o ejecutarán aplicaciones en más de un centro de datos de sus proveedores de la nube.
Seguridad en la nube
En los últimos años, la automatización y la supervisión de la protección de datos, el cifrado y la seguridad de la carga de trabajo han sido en gran parte servicios complementarios en los sistemas en la nube. Forrester, dice que los vendedores en la nube ofrecerán alternativas mucho más integradas para la seguridad en la nube que pueden aumentar o reemplazar las soluciones puntuales y recomienda aplicar un modelo de seguridad de «cero confianza» dentro y entre las plataformas de la nube.
Contención del costo de la nube
AWS, Microsoft y Google lo están haciendo más difícil al ofrecer varios precios de servicios en la nube y planes de consumo. AWS, por ejemplo, cobra a los clientes de algunos de sus servicios en la nube por la cantidad de mensajes enviados o la cantidad de mensajes enviados en una hora. Aun así, los ejecutivos de TI están mejorando a la hora de contener los costes de la nube a medida que maduran sus prácticas.
Club de cultura en la nube
Para aprovechar al máximo el valor de una entrega de software más rápida, muchas organizaciones están renovando su cultura de desarrollador, que incluye la implementación de métodos ágiles y DevOps para ayudar a aprovechar la agilidad y escalabilidad que ofrece la nube. Forrester recomienda a los CIO que identifiquen a los líderes de TI para impulsar el cambio cultural y la nube, y que envíen ingenieros a programas de capacitación como IBM Bluemix Garage, Pivotal Labs y Red Hat Innovation Centers, entre otros.
