IDC prevé que las organizaciones desembolsen casi 656.000 millones de dólares este año en soluciones y servicios que faciliten la colaboración entre personas y máquinas, que doten de nuevas habilidades y experiencias a los empleados y eliminen los límites de tiempo y espacio físico de la actividad laboral.
La transformación del mundo laboral que estaban propiciando tecnologías como la nube y la informática móvil se ha visto aún más acelerada durante la pandemia de la covid, que ha impulsado como nunca el teletrabajo. Este escenario, resaltan los analistas de IDC (y muchos otros), ha llegado para quedarse, al menos en un modelo híbrido, que combine el acceso al trabajo en remoto y la labor presencial en las oficinas. Como resultado, según las previsiones de la consultora, las organizaciones gastarán casi 656.000 millones de dólares en tecnologías relacionadas con el futuro del trabajo este año 2021, un 17,4% más que en 2020.
De cara al futuro, IDC prevé que la inversión en tecnologías vinculadas con el futuro del trabajo supere el billón de dólares en todo el mundo en 2024, con una tasa de crecimiento anual del 17% durante el período de previsión de cinco años.
Holly Muscolino, vicepresidenta de investigación de Estrategias de Contenido y el Futuro del Trabajo de IDC, explica que los modelos de trabajo tradicionales no proporcionan la agilidad, la escalabilidad y la resistencia que requiere la empresa del futuro, algo que se puso de manifiesto con la actual crisis sanitaria. “Para impulsar el crecimiento y la diferenciación competitiva, las organizaciones invertirán en tecnologías y servicios que impulsen la automatización, la colaboración entre personas y máquinas, nuevas estructuras organizativas y estilos de liderazgo, oportunidades de aprendizaje dinámico, un lugar de trabajo reimaginado y un entorno de trabajo digital que no esté limitado por el tiempo o el lugar físico”, añade.
¿Qué tecnologías y servicios atraerán mayor inversión? El hardware será la estrella este 2021, según IDC, que espera que las empresas compren 228.000 millones de dólares en dispositivos de endpoint, hardware empresarial, infraestructura como servicio (IaaS) y robótica y drones. Le siguen los servicios, incluidos los empresariales, de TI y de conectividad, con más de 123.000 millones de dólares previstos en inversión. El tercero en este podio es el software, que experimentará el crecimiento más rápido del gasto, con una tasa de crecimiento anual compuesta (CAGR) del 21,3% durante el periodo de previsión 2020-2024. Esto incluye inversiones en aplicaciones empresariales, contenido y colaboración, análisis e inteligencia artificial, aplicaciones de recursos humanos, seguridad y desarrollo e implementación de software.
Eileen Smith, vicepresidenta del programa Customer Insights and Analysis de IDC, subraya que las tecnologías emergentes, como la inteligencia artificial, el Internet de las cosas y la realidad aumentada/virtual están cambiando la forma de trabajar en todos los sectores y en todo el mundo. Desde la consultora prevén que la fabricación discreta y de procesos representará algo más de un tercio de todo el gasto que se realice en tecnologías y servicios relacionados con el futuro del trabajo este año. “En busca de apoyo a la toma de decisiones automatizada y de enfoques colaborativos virtuales, la fabricación discreta y de procesos, los dos sectores que más gastan en tecnología del futuro del trabajo durante el periodo de previsión, están invirtiendo en casos de uso clave como la robótica colaborativa, la gestión del rendimiento operativo y el diseño y la revisión de productos digitales y en 3D para mejorar el control de los costes y aumentar la eficiencia de los procesos”.
Los tres siguientes sectores en términos de gasto en tecnologías asociadas a la nueva forma de trabajar son los servicios profesionales, el comercio minorista y la banca. Por su parte, el sector de la construcción será el que más rápido crezca en este gasto, con una CAGR de cinco años del 23,7%. Los medios de comunicación y el comercio minorista le seguirán de cerca con una tasa de crecimiento anual constante del 19,5% y el 19,3% respectivamente.
¿Qué casos de uso se beneficiarán más de esta inyección en el gasto vinculado al futuro del trabajo? Para los analistas de IDC, estos serán la robótica colaborativa, la gestión del rendimiento operativo y la gestión automatizada de clientes, aunque los casos de uso que se espera que vean el crecimiento más rápido del gasto durante el período de previsión 2020-2024 son el desarrollo de habilidades adaptativas, los espacios de trabajo colaborativos interconectados y la gestión avanzada de proyectos.
