Un informe de Adecco asegura que en estos momentos siguen teletrabajando en este país casi tres millones de profesionales, y que Madrid es la comunidad donde más intensa ha sido la implantación del trabajo remoto .
Un informe de Adecco Institute, toma el pulso al teletrabajo en España y hace una radiografía de esta modalidad laboral que ha vivido una verdadera explosión con la crisis de la Covid-19. Según el centro de estudios de Adecco, hace un año, y antes de la pandemia, la cifra de personas que teletrabajaba, al menos ocasionalmente, superaba algo más de 1,5 millones (el 7,9% de las personas con trabajo que había entonces en España).
Pero con la irrupción de la pandemia y el decreto del Estado de Alarma en marzo de 2020, el total de personas que empezó a trabajar al menos ocasionalmente desde su hogar se duplicó con creces en el segundo trimestre del pasado año, cuando se impuso el confinamiento domiciliario, superando los 3,5 millones de personas, un récord absoluto. Desde entonces, el total de teletrabajadores se ha moderado hasta los 2,86 millones en el cuarto trimestre en el conjunto de España, cifra que de todos modos supone un incremento interanual de un 74,2%. Esto implica que ahora hay 1,2 millones de teletrabajadores más que hace un año.
Pese a la significativa expansión del teletrabajo a lo largo de los últimos meses, la inserción de esta modalidad laboral en España está muy por detrás de la de la mayoría de países de nuestro entorno directo, según los datos de Adecco. Mientras la proporción de teletrabajadores dentro del total de ocupados es en nuestro país de un 14,5%, la media de la Unión Europea se sitúa en el 21,5%.
Entre los países europeos, hay dos en los que más del 40% de los ocupados teletrabaja. Se trata de Suecia (40,9%) y Holanda (40,1%). Les siguen, con más del 35%, Luxemburgo (37,5%) y Finlandia (33,5%). De los países más grandes de la UE, solo Italia presenta una proporción de teletrabajadores inferior a la española (9,8%).
En el Reino Unido la proporción alcanza al 31,1%, en tanto que en Francia es de un 28,3%. Por su parte, la proporción de ocupados alemanes que teletrabaja, 18,5%, es inferior a la media europea, pero, aun así, muy superior a la de España. Merece la pena mencionar que el teletrabajo es una modalidad de la que se beneficia el 20,7% de los trabajadores en Portugal. Entre los países con menor desarrollo del teletrabajo, que tienen un 5% o menos de sus trabajadores accediendo a esta posibilidad, se encuentran Bulgaria (4,7%) y Rumanía (5,4%).
La evolución del trabajo desde casa ha tenido un comportamiento dispar entre las comunidades autónomas españolas. Aunque todas ellas muestran crecimientos interanuales en su proporción de ocupados que teletrabajan, hay diferencias importantes.
Por ejemplo, la Comunidad de Madrid y Cataluña más que han duplicado su número de teletrabajadores, con incrementos interanuales de un 200% y un 119%, respectivamente. También exhiben aumentos significativos Canarias (+65,8%) y La Rioja (60%). En cambio, Aragón, Extremadura y la Comunidad Valenciana presentan incrementos inferiores al 20% (9,9%, 16,3% y 18,2%, respectivamente).
Traducidos a términos absolutos, esos incrementos porcentuales significan que, durante 2020, la Comunidad de Madrid aumentó su número de teletrabajadores en 512.000 personas (hasta un total de 767.200 individuos), mientras que Cataluña lo hizo en 350.000 personas (elevando el total hasta 645.400 teletrabajadores). Ambas comunidades concentran 7 de cada 10 nuevos teletrabajadores de toda España.
La disparidad en el crecimiento del teletrabajo ha modificado de forma significativa la distribución geográfica del teletrabajo en España. Antes de la pandemia, en el cuarto trimestre de 2019, Cataluña tenía el 18% del total de trabajadores que decían trabajar al menos ocasionalmente desde su hogar. Le seguían la Comunidad de Madrid, con un 15,6%, Andalucía, con un 15,3%, y la Comunidad Valenciana, con un 10,9%. En total, esas cuatro autonomías daban cuenta de prácticamente el 60% del total de teletrabajadores en España.
Tras la irrupción de la pandemia, los últimos datos del cuarto trimestre de 2020 muestran que Madrid ha pasado a encabezar el teletrabajo, con el 26,9% de todos los teletrabajadores españoles, superando a Cataluña, pese a que ha crecido hasta el 22,6%. Andalucía conserva el tercer puesto, pero con menos de la mitad de teletrabajadores que Madrid y menor participación en el teletrabajo nacional, un total de un 12,8%. También se ha reducido la participación de la Comunidad Valenciana en el teletrabajo nacional, bajando hasta el 7,4%.
La presencia del teletrabajo se ha concentrado en la Comunidad de Madrid y Cataluña, que han pasado de tener un tercio del total de teletrabajadores del país a la mitad. Si añadimos Andalucía y la Comunidad Valenciana, tenemos que las cuatro autonomías con mayor cantidad de teletrabajadores han pasado de tener el 60% del total al 70%.
En cualquier caso, la proporción de ocupados que teletrabaja ha aumentado en todas las comunidades autónomas. El mayor incremento se registra en la Comunidad de Madrid, donde la proporción de teletrabajadores ha dado un salto de 14 puntos porcentuales, para llegar al 22,3% de sus ocupados pudiendo trabajar desde su hogar. Es el mayor registro alcanzado por cualquier autonomía en los 15 años que cubren las estadísticas de esta variable. Cataluña pasa al segundo puesto, con un incremento interanual de 8,6 p.p. que ha elevado su proporción hasta el 17,2%. En tercer lugar, se sitúa Asturias, con un 15,4% (+4,5 p.p.).
Hace apenas un año, 15 autonomías tenían menos de un 10% de teletrabajadores en el total de ocupados. Ahora son solo tres: La Rioja (9,6%; +3,6 p.p.), Canarias y la Región de Murcia (9,8% en ambos casos, con incrementos, respectivamente, de 3,6 p.p. y 2,4 p.p.).
