ComputerWorld, con la colaboración de Workday, organizó ayer un encuentro en el que CIO y CTO de varias empresas debatieron acerca de la hibridación de tecnología y negocio y de la necesidad de abordar una transformación digital que las permita convertirse en compañías impulsadas por datos.
Aunque llevamos mucho tiempo hablando de la transformación digital, la crisis generada por la COVID-19 ha sido el catalizador definitivo. Todas las empresas se han dado cuenta de que el área de IT no es un departamento más, sino que es un elemento central para la continuidad de su actividad. Así pues, tecnología y negocio no pueden vivir de espaldas, sino que han de ir de la mano. Éste fue el punto de partida del debate ‘2021: la fusión de IT y Negocio, clave para afianzar un modelo basado en la agilidad empresarial’, organizado por ComputerWorld, con la colaboración de Workday.
“La tecnología es clave para afrontar este nuevo orden que se presenta y que no sabemos cómo va a evolucionar, pero en el que vemos una fusión entre tecnología y negocio, sustentando toda la operación de las empresas”, afirmaba María José Marzal, directora de ComputerWorld.
Además, señalaba que las organizaciones han de ser “superágiles” en este entorno nuevo y cambiante, utilizando toda la tecnología disponible y aprovechando los datos. En este sentido, Adolfo Pellicer, director general para España y Portugal de Workday, defendía el uso de sistemas ágiles, que permitan llevar a cabo cambios en apenas unas horas, sin necesidad de interrumpir su actividad.
Los ponentes coincidieron en que la situación generada por la pandemia ha puesto de manifiesto la estrecha relación existente entre tecnología y negocio. “La tecnología tiene que ser un habilitador para que el negocio fluya más deprisa y cumpla con su cometido”, señalaba Juan Manuel García, CIO y director de Transformación Digital de Ceralto Siro Foods. Además, Francesc Muñoz, CIO de Cuatrecases Gonçalves Pereira, hacía hincapié en la importancia de integrar la tecnología “desde la génesis del negocio, de forma que éste nazca ya con tecnología”.
Igualmente, Manuel Tarrasa, Global CIO y CTO de Prosegur, admitió que la crisis de la COVID-19 ha contribuido a la fusión de IT y negocio. “Toda la empresa se dio cuenta de que la tecnología es crítica. Hubo una transformación mental, tanto en los jefes como en los empleados. Se dieron cuenta de que sin tecnología no hay negocio”, exponía.
Por otra parte, Alberto Pan, CTO de Denodo, insistió en la necesidad de basar la toma de decisiones en el análisis de datos, por lo que es esencial que el departamento de IT esté cerca del negocio, “para alimentar con datos todas las decisiones”. En esa misma línea, Ana Ortín, CIO de Mahou San Miguel, puso el acento en que “no se trata sólo de tener datos, sino también de su disponibilidad y de su uso como drivers para la toma de decisiones”.
Los responsables tecnológicos de estas empresas también expusieron cómo están utilizando las nuevas tecnologías. Muñoz explicó que Cuatrecasas hace tiempo que emplea inteligencia artificial (IA) y machine learning. Por ejemplo, ha desarrollado una solución que permite extraer automáticamente información de notas simples del Registro de la Propiedad, así como un anonimizador de datos personales que permite compartir información a través del gestor de conocimiento usado por toda la compañía.
Víctor Gil, jefe de IT y CIO de J. Uriach y Compañía, indicó que su compañía está utilizando internet de las cosas (IoT) y sensorización en sus plantas de producción, mientras que en el área de negocio cuenta con data scientists, con el fin de detectar patrones de comportamiento en ventas, pedidos, etc.
Enrique Salgado, Global IT manager de Maxy Mobility Spain, matriz de Cabify, explicó que su empresa utiliza la nube, big data e IA desde su origen. Por ejemplo, a la hora de automatizar rutas, coordinar recogidas y entregas de pasajeros, etc.
Por su parte, Tarrasa señaló que Prosegur está apostando por la digitalización y robotización con el objetivo de mejorar la eficiencia de sus procesos. “Muchos de nuestros robots están utilizando tecnologías de extracción de datos y de digitalización basadas en machine learning en la nube. También empleamos computer vision en las señales de audio y vídeo de nuestros clientes para extraer datos que puedan ser manejados con IA. Por ejemplo, lo estamos utilizando para detectar situaciones de riesgo a través de los vídeos”, detalló.
Los ponentes también destacaron la importancia de innovar para mejorar la gestión de sus recursos, tanto económicos como humanos. Ortín incidió en dos aspectos clave en la innovación: la experiencia del empleado y la flexibilidad. “Nuestros proyectos de RR.HH. están centrados en conseguir que los procesos sean eficientes, poniendo en el centro la experiencia del empleado. Y desde el punto de vista financiero, la base es la flexibilidad para adaptarse al mercado”, comentaba.
Por otra parte, el responsable de Cerealto Siro Foods, explicó que la innovación presenta dos vertientes: la utilización de tecnologías de robotización en los aspectos transaccionales, mejorando la eficiencia en los recursos; y la consolidación de datos y su integración, para mejorar la toma de decisiones y la planificación.
Finalmente, Pellicer apuntó que habrá que trabajar para “adaptar el back-end al front-end”. “Se ha invertido mucho en los últimos años en customer experience y en CRM para saber más de los clientes; pero el back-end no se puede quedar atrás, sino que debe acompañar en la transformación. Si creamos un nuevo modelo de negocio o incorporamos una nueva dimensión de negocio, lo tenemos que poder representar en el ERP”, explicaba. Así pues, subrayó la importancia de contar con herramientas flexibles, que permitan introducir modificaciones de forma inmediata.
