Más del 70% de los responsables globales de TI han adoptado las soluciones de TI como servicio (ITaaS) con el propósito de modernizar las infraestructuras heredadas, según un informede Hitachi Vantara.
En la actualidad, el 55% de las empresas tiene dificultades para obtener información significativa de sus datos, lo que pone de manifiesto la necesidad de todo el sector de ofrecer tecnología de forma más rápida, fiable y en más lugares. Un estudio reciente impulsado por Hitachi Vantara reveló los continuos desafíos relacionados con la seguridad, el encorsetamiento de los sistemas, los datos aislados, la escasez de mano de obra cualificada y la necesidad de agilidad de la infraestructura. Unos retos se ven agravados por la creciente complejidad de los datos, la rigidez de los entornos tecnológicos y el aumento de los costes debido al envejecimiento o a las infraestructuras heredadas (legacy).
Así, con el fin de arrojar algo de luz sobre estas cuestiones, la compañía encuestó en el marco del estudio Embracing ITaaS for adaptability and growth a 213 líderes de TI de Norteamérica y Europa. El objetivo, según detallan fuentes corporativas, no es otro que evaluar cómo se comporta el mercado de TI como servicio (ITaaS) centrándose en los modelos basados en suscripción y consumo. En este sentido la encuesta puso de manifiesto los principales retos de las infraestructuras heredadas que provocan que los responsables de TI informen de impactos negativos en sus negocios.
Entre las principales conclusiones merece la pena destacar que el 56% de las empresas informó de un impacto significativo en los ingresos debido al tiempo de inactividad de la tecnología; que el 50% de las organizaciones se enfrenta a un elevado coste total de propiedad (TCO) o a una deuda técnica asociada a aplicaciones críticas; y que el 45% de las empresas tiene dificultades para navegar por entornos de nube complejos.
«En la actual era digital, las TI no son sólo un departamento; son una fuerza motriz que impulsa el progreso. Permite a las empresas innovar, colaborar y prosperar en medio de una tecnología en constante evolución», afirma Valentín Pinuaga, country manager en Hitachi Vantara España. «Pero la complejidad está obstaculizando la innovación, lo que pone de relieve la necesidad de contar con especialistas de confianza que simplifiquen la configuración para un acceso sin fisuras a los datos y las aplicaciones”, defiende.
El citado estudio constata el reciente crecimiento de ITaaS al mostrar que el 42% de los líderes están ampliando su adopción. Asimismo, se espera que aumente no sólo para soluciones individuales, sino también en la totalidad de varias categorías de infraestructura. Por ejemplo, el 56% de los encuestados utiliza ITaaS para toda su infraestructura primaria en la actualidad, y se espera que este valor aumente hasta el 86% durante el próximo trienio. Por otro lado cabe destacar que los responsables de TI emplean ITaaS para cambiar su modelo de financiación de TI a un conjunto de costes operativos que son más fáciles de predecir y presupuestar. En este ámbito, mencionan una reducción media del 20% en el coste total de propiedad.
La asociación con el proveedor de ITaaS adecuado es clave. Los líderes de TI también señalaron la importancia de elegir al socio adecuado. Más allá de los precios, los responsables de la toma de decisiones consideran cuidadosamente elementos como la competencia del socio en el apoyo a las estrategias híbridas y multicloud, proporcionando experiencia y permitiendo una innovación más rápida a través de la integración de servicios de tecnología sin fisuras.
