La compañía IFS ha identificado los 5 desafíos tecnológicos que afronta la industria global en la actualidad y que marcarán el ejercicio que acaba de comenzar para este ecosistema de empresas, fundamental para nuestra economía. Las conclusiones de su análisis indican que los grandes aspectos que preocupan a sus directivos en este momento tienen que ver con las redes 5G, la inteligencia artificial, el enfoque al cliente, así como a aspectos íntimamente ligados a su actividad, como la máxima sostenibilidad de sus procesos industriales o el etiquetado inteligente de sus productos.
Se tratan todos de aspectos propios y estrechamente relacionados con la actividad productiva de estas compañías, muy condicionadas por las constantes e imprevisibles demandas de los consumidores que exigen hoy una respuesta tecnológica a su medida y muy flexible de parte de los fabricantes, que se ajuste perfectamente a sus deseos. Transformaciones necesarias que en estos días constituyen la principal prioridad para todo un sector industrial que hoy en día no solo debe transformar materias primas en productos manufacturados de calidad, sino que además debe ajustarse como un guante a las cambiantes exigencias comerciales y de los clientes.
Como explica Colin Elkins, Director Global de Industria en IFS, “la consecuencia directa de este decisivo cambio será una industria revitalizada y con mayores ingresos que permitirá a las compañías más disruptivas desafiar el poder de los grandes gigantes de la industria fabricante de bienes de consumo (CPG)”.
En esta línea, la tecnología 5G parece una apuesta segura que permitirá cubrir tanto las expectativas de los consumidores como los objetivos de las empresas. Según Antony Bourne, Vicepresidente Senior de IFS Industries, “tendrán un impacto directo en la automatización industrial, ya que la conectividad ubicua y permanente y su latencia ultra baja reforzarán sus comunicaciones al tiempo que pondrán a su disposición una ingente cantidad de datos que luego podrán aprovecharse, mediante tecnologías de aprendizaje automático, para acceder a nuevos ahorros de costes y mayores eficiencias operativas”, subraya.
En esta línea, 5G facilitará la automatización de muchos procesos de fabricación complejos, o su configuración y planificación bajo demanda, lo que se traducirá en la sustitución de los modelos de automatización clásicos, repetitivos y poco prácticos, por nuevas prácticas más ajustadas a la actual demanda y que requieren una menor intervención humana.
Las indagaciones recogidas en un reciente estudio presentado por IFS el pasado mes de noviembre concluyen que el 40% de los fabricantes tienen previsto implementar la Inteligencia Artificial en su negocio con el fin de mejorar su productividad, en tres áreas concretas: planificación de inventario y la logística; programación de la producción; y la gestión de las relaciones con los clientes.
La tendencia apuntada también indica que esta reinvención de los procesos a partir de la IA permitirá a las empresas predecir cualquier problema de calidad en sus procesos de producción, antes de tiempo, así como diseñar nuevos productos más ajustados a los gustos y demandas del consumidor final, beneficiando sus tareas de planificación y capacidad de respuesta.
Otra gran tendencia que responde a la mayor responsabilidad medioambiental de los consumidores y condicionan el futuro cercano de la industria mundial tiene que ver con el impacto ambiental de sus procesos productivos y el creciente compromiso general con un tipo de producción más limpia y respetuosa con los recursos naturales. Se trata de una exigencia cada vez más relevante que ya está condicionando los planes de muchos fabricantes y que los análisis indican que tendrán un peso mayor en su próxima estrategia operativa.
Como sugiere la firma especializada Kerry, en un informe al respecto también publicado el pasado año, las etiquetas limpias se están confirmando como una puerta de acceso principal para que tanto fabricantes como comercios entablen una relación de confianza con el consumidor final, cada vez más interesado en disponer de toda la información posible sobre los productos que adquiere.
Se abre paso así otra gran tendencia para 2020 que tiene que ver con el etiquetado inteligente, una alternativa cada vez más interesante para cualquier productor y que actualmente está apostando por la nanotecnología para integrar sensores que detectan las emisiones que producen los alimentos a partir de una fecha determinada. “En la práctica, esto supone una renovación completa de la forma en que se controlan y almacenan las existencias de productos, que además de aumentar la confianza del consumidor, reducirá considerablemente sus excedentes” como concluye el propio Colin Elkins.
