En opinión de IFS, inteligencia artificial, ‘machine learning’ y los denominados “gemelos digitales” serán temas capitales en dicha agenda.
IFS ha identificado tres áreas clave de desarrollo tecnológico para el sector de las energías renovables hasta 2025, como son la inteligencia artificial, el machine learning y los denominados “gemelos digitales”, marcarán la agenda de las energías renovables en los próximos cinco años.
De hecho, esta identificación de ISF va en consonancia con el reciente estudio del principal organismo internacional de la energía (IEA), que predice que aquellas tecnologías convertirán los datos en visiones inteligentes de la actividad y operativa diaria de este su negocio.
Es más, diversas consultoras indican que más del 50% de las empresas de utilities aumentarán sus inversiones en automatización de operaciones, con tecnologías Edge, inteligencia artificial y aprendizaje automático, lo que supondrá doblar su presencia en el área de mantenimiento proactivo y predictivo hasta 2025.
Todo ello en un escenario, el de 2020, caracterizado por ser un año sombrío en muchos aspectos para toda la economía, aunque con motivos para el optimismo en este sector, sobre todo cuando se observa el crecimiento imparable de energías renovables, como la solar fotovoltaica (PV), eólica o hidroeléctrica, entre otras.
Basta con tomar como referencia que, desde enero a octubre de 2020, la capacidad renovable global batía récords históricos, con un fuerte crecimiento del 15% con respecto al mismo período del año pasado. En esta línea se prevé que, en términos de nuevas inversiones para impulsar la capacidad, las energías renovables seguirán siendo la fuente de energía de más rápido crecimiento hasta 2025.
“Previsiblemente, el crecimiento de las energías renovables se verá impulsado por empresas conjuntas multidisciplinares y diversas asociaciones entre agentes de la industria. En 2021 y más allá, veremos un número creciente de importantes empresas de energía y utilities que se asociarán con negocios ágiles, que abarcan desde empresas establecidas hasta nuevas empresas más pequeñas, en un esfuerzo por alcanzar ambos objetivos de reducción de las emisiones y creación de nuevas fuentes de ingresos, a largo plazo” afirma Colin Beaney, vicepresidente de IFS.
Asimismo, según el último informe elaborado por IDG Research en colaboración con IFS Ibérica, en el que las empresas de España y Portugal del sector analizan los retos, las implicaciones y las acciones a las que se enfrentarán en esta área en constante crecimiento, destacan la aparición de ineficiencias fruto de la descompensación en el ritmo de crecimiento de las propias operaciones con respecto a los recursos para gestionarlos. De esta manera, se genera un desfase significativo entre la agilidad del negocio y la capacidad de respuesta, dando pie a una gran variabilidad de precios, la aparición de incidencias impredecibles y una cadena de suministro inestable.
Además, cabe destacar, la falta de coordinación entre los actores del sector, que evolucionan cada uno en una dirección diferente provocando la heterogeneidad de tecnologías entre los parques y herramientas, haciendo la gestión más compleja. Por último, se identifica la ausencia de una visión integrada y compartida entre todas las partes que potencie la evolución del negocio que se da, tanto por crecimiento orgánico (entre las empresas ya existentes) como por la adquisición de empresas, haciendo imprescindible una correcta coordinación para evitar la desinformación y la coexistencia de diferentes culturas desiguales dentro de un sector único con un gran potencial.
