La transformación digital ha llegado para quedarse, y su presencia en los distintos procesos de negocio se irá amplificando. Es una de las conclusiones del informe La organización digital de 2019, elaborado por analistas del CIO Executive Council y para el que se ha consultado a 23 responsables de TI de firmas españolas de ocho industrias distintas, de las que un 39% facturan más de 5.000 millones de euros anuales en el país.
De acuerdo a la investigación, la organización dedicada a la digitalización de los procesos y modelos de negocio está llamada a mantener su vigencia, de forma que evolucionará paralelamente a los procesos transformadores. Así lo apuntan dos de cada tres CIO encuestados. Un 17% cree que estos cambios serán mucho más radicales en el futuro. Es residual, sin embargo, el porcentaje de participantes que creen que estos proyectos son coyunturales y llegará un momento en que la organización volverá al punto anterior: apenas un 5% del total.
En este escenario de actualización tecnológica es en el que la gran mayoría de los encuestados cree que la frontera entre la parte de TI y otras áreas de negocio se irá debilitando. Así, un 94% de los participantes esta muy o bastante de acuerdo con esta permeabilización, que se traducirá en elementos como la movilidad interdepartamental y los proyectos multidisciplinares con objetivos comunes. Es también significativo el porcentaje de personas encuestadas conformes en el mismo grado con la idea de que se está generando una organización mixta TI-negocio, dedicada a la ejecución de proyectos tecnológicos e iniciativas de negocio digital. Sin embargo, hay también un porcentaje elevado que reconoce que el proceso se aborda mediante pequeños grupos de transformación que permanecen activos de forma temporal, únicamente mientras se ejecutan proyectos. Se rechaza, sin embargo, la idea de que esta temporalidad llegue a tomar la forma de una organización.
Sobre los cambios que se experimentan en un proceso de transformación, tres ideas destacan sobre el resto, con más del 80% de participantes manifestando su acuerdo en mayor o menor grado. Por un lado, se detecta que el sistema de jerarquías está evolucionando lo que, indican desde IDG Research, puede generar ciertos roces y desajustes o incluso luchas más o menos soterradas de poder. Hay además una creciente importancia de las denominadas soft skills, entre ellas la empatía y la sensibilidad hacia las expectativas de otros miembros de la organización. Por último, una consecuencia directa que se observa de la organización digitalizada o en proceso es que se están realizando más experimentos.
Profundizando en los problemas derivados de la digitalización, hay una visión unánime, aunque en distintos grados, de que todo el mundo quiere adjudicarse la buena imagen de los resultados digitales. Además, se detectan conflictos de competencia de las iniciativas digitales con la parte de negocio y, en la misma línea, aumenta la frecuencia de los comités de coordinación.
La encuesta muestra una división clara de opiniones respecto del modelo de organización bimodal, que según Gartner la divide en dos tipos: uno centrado en la estabilidad y la eficiencia propias de los procesos y tecnologías y otro centrado en los nuevos paradigmas tecnológicos. Un 39% de los participantes reniega de este modelo de dos velocidades, en tanto un 22% cree que es una filosofía totalmente acorde a su organización y otro 22% cree que puede existir, pero no está seguro de que se adapte a su realidad.
Como indican desde CIO Executive Council, es lógico que los y las participantes, responsables del área de TI, valoren más positivamente sus capacidades que las del resto de departamentos en relación a la transformación digital. Así, es su departamento al que mejor puntúan en agilidad, flexibilidad, pragmatismo y proactividad.
