Estamos en etapa de definición y aprobación de presupuestos para el nuevo año. Desde los Presupuestos Generales del Estado, que se encuentran en trámite parlamentario, hasta las previsiones de gasto que las empresas plantean para 2021, es momento de analizar cómo ha ido el ejercicio y ver dónde poner el énfasis en el que está por venir. Y después de un año tan complejo, que ha trastocado cualquier posible previsión o expectativa empresarial, es más importante que nunca pensar bien cómo gestionar los próximos gastos e inversiones, para buscar las mejores oportunidades y preparar la recuperación económica. Todo lo relacionado con el impulso de la digitalización y la transición al negocio electrónico tendrá, sin duda, un lugar destacado en esas previsiones de gasto. Y, vinculado a esta tendencia, otra área a la que muchas empresas dedicarán más recursos será la de la ciberseguridad.
El confinamiento ha acelerado los procesos de digitalización de todo tipo de organizaciones para facilitar a sus empleados el teletrabajo y tratar de mantener la actividad. Los ciudadanos han aumentado el uso de Internet y de los dispositivos electrónicos no solo por trabajo, sino también en busca de respuestas a sus necesidades de compras, comunicación, deporte, entretenimiento…
Según DE-CIX (organización que gestiona el principal punto de intercambio de Internet a nivel mundial), durante los meses más crudos de la crisis el promedio de tráfico diario en la Red ha crecido en torno al 50%, alcanzando en Madrid picos de tráfico en los que se superaron los 500 Gbit por segundo. Esta situación ha sido aprovechada por los ciberdelincuentes, que han incrementado también su actividad delictiva durante este periodo. España fue el cuarto país del mundo en el que más aumentaron los ciberataques durante los meses de confinamiento, según datos de IMF Business School.
Empresas, particulares, incluso los servicios sanitarios, han sufrido más incidentes de seguridad, desde phishing y ransomware a partir de mensajes de contenido vinculado al COVID-19 con enlaces y archivos fraudulentos, hasta ataques contra las herramientas de trabajo y comunicación de las empresas, pasando por lo que se conoce como ingeniería social, haciéndose pasar por compañías de servicios y tratando de conseguir datos confidenciales.
El resultado es que las empresas de todo el mundo quieren prepararse para reducir sus posibles brechas de seguridad y protegerse bien frente a estos ciberriesgos. Un estudio de PwC elaborado a partir de encuestas a más de 3.200 directivos y responsables de tecnología de compañías a nivel mundial muestra una intención generalizada (el 96%) de ajustar las estrategias de ciberseguridad, y el 55% se propone aumentar la partida destinada a ello de cara a 2021.
Como parte de estas estrategias, además de todas las recomendaciones necesarias para proteger los sistemas de la empresa (instalación de firewalls y antivirus, uso de software original, mantener al día las actualizaciones, realización de copias de seguridad, control de accesos vía WiFi a la red corporativa, etc.), es recomendable disponer de un seguro de ciberriesgo que, si todo esto falla, proteja a la compañía frente a los efectos del ciberataque en el negocio.
Un ataque por fraude, extorsión, robo de datos, etc., tiene unas repercusiones económicas que para una pyme pueden situarse, según los expertos, entre 50.000 y 80.000 euros, entre las pérdidas causadas por la paralización de la actividad, el posible pago de sanciones y los daños reputacionales. A ello se une la necesidad de asistencia técnica inmediata, cobertura de responsabilidad civil y defensa jurídica. Con todo esto, contar con este escudo protector, como última barrera de seguridad frente a los ciberdelincuentes, puede resultar clave para la sostenibilidad del negocio.
