Que la tecnología cloud se ha convertido en una commodity es una afirmación difícil de arrancar a los proveedores cloud. El agua también lo es, y no por eso la gente deja de comprar agua embotellada, y no por eso sigue habiendo diferentes ofertas de agua embotellada, nos comentaba recientemente un representante de un gran proveedor de cloud.
Pero lo cierto es que prácticamente todas las empresas cuentan con tecnología cloud y que lo que demandan ahora es un servicio de valor añadido. Lo mismo ocurre en el caso de los proveedores, que han visto que la oferta de infraestructura es ya insuficiente y que miran cada vez más a la provisión de servicios extremo a extremo en todo el ciclo de vida cloud.
Parte de la culpa de esto lo tienen los grandes proveedores de nube pública (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), que ganan cuota de mercado con servicios muy competitivos a unos precios aún más competitivos. Las empresas que demandan estos servicios ven cubiertas sus necesidades y ven un enorme potencial a un bajo coste. Los proveedores más tradicionales por su parte están creando alianzas con los grandes para seguir teniendo una propuesta de valor completa.
Esta es la principal lectura que puede hacerse del informe Universo Penteo Cloud 2018, que hace una radiografía del mercado en España.
Este nuevo paradigma que se dibuja es, para la consultora, una buena noticia para las empresas españolas que ven una mayor oferta y más madura. La otra cara de la moneda es la de los proveedores, que ven un aumento de la competencia y una necesidad de ponerse las pilas; ya no basta con ofrecer infraestructura.
La tenología cloud ya está más que consolidada y es más, la propuesta ha evolucionado. “El cloud se consolida como tecnología habilitadora en la digitalización y muchos proveedores ya acompañan sus ofertas mediante una propuesta multi-servicio (Workplace, Analytics, IoT, etc) con una fase de co-innovación con el cliente para encontrar soluciones mucho más orientadas a su negocio”, declara uno de los expertos de la consultora.
Tendencias y retos
El extenso documento revela algunas tendencias de interés que se están consolidando en el mercado español. Los expertos observan una creciente tendencia a la localización de la infraestructura en la nube pública y en la transformación de los integradores en especialistas en la gestión.
Por otro lado y a pesar de que muchas barreras de entrada ya se han superado con creces, los clientes demandan expertise técnico de los proveedores y la seguridad de los datos almacenados. Cada vez más, quien decide qué modelos adoptar es la dirección digital, aunque sigue siendo promovido por la dirección TIC.
Sobre las razones que frenan la adopción de la tecnología el informe destaca el no haber acabado de amortizar la infraestructura actual, la seguridad de los datos en la era GDPR y la compatibilidad con otras nubes. En el caso de los proveedores el principal reto es ofrecer una capacidad de migrar y gestionar servicios a gran escala.
