Según Gartner, el gasto en la nube y las inversiones en ciberseguridad serán los principales motores del crecimiento del gasto en TI de las empresas en el próximo año.
Gartner prevé que el gasto mundial en TI alcance los 5,1 billones de dólares en 2024, lo que supone un aumento del 8% respecto a 2023 impulsado principalmente por las inversiones en la nube y en ciberseguridad.
Los segmentos de software y servicios informáticos experimentarán un crecimiento de dos dígitos en 2024, impulsado en gran medida por el gasto en la nube, según Gartner.
Se prevé que el gasto mundial en servicios de nube pública aumente un 20,4% en 2024. La fuente del crecimiento será una combinación de subidas de precios de los proveedores de la nube y una mayor utilización, al igual que en 2023, escribió John-David Lovelock, distinguido vicepresidente analista de Gartner.
El gasto en ciberseguridad también está impulsando el crecimiento en el segmento del software. Aproximadamente el 80% de los directores de sistemas de información declararon que tienen previsto aumentar el gasto en ciberseguridad y seguridad de la información en 2024, según la encuesta de Gartner a directores de sistemas de información y ejecutivos de tecnología para 2024.
Otras áreas en las que aumentará la inversión, aunque en un solo dígito, son los sistemas de centros de datos, las comunicaciones y los servicios de TI, ha señalado Lovelock.
Y aunque la inteligencia artificial generativa es la tecnología industrial de moda del momento, todavía no ha tenido un impacto material en el gasto en TI, aunque la inversión en IA en general está apoyando el crecimiento del gasto general en TI, según Lovelock.
Las organizaciones siguen invirtiendo en IA y automatización para aumentar la eficiencia operativa y colmar las lagunas de talento en TI, afirmó Lovelock. «El bombo en torno a IA Gen está apoyando esta tendencia, ya que los CIO reconocen que los proyectos de IA de hoy serán fundamentales para desarrollar una estrategia y una historia de IA antes de que IA Gen forme parte de sus presupuestos de TI a partir de 2025″.
Lo que la IA ha hecho, sin embargo, es crear un susto de seguridad para las organizaciones, ha dicho Lovelock. «Gartner proyecta un crecimiento de dos dígitos en todos los segmentos del gasto en seguridad empresarial para 2024».
Los riesgos asociados a la IA Gen son significativos, continuos y evolucionarán constantemente, según Gartner. Las encuestas de la empresa indican que los resultados no deseados y el código inseguro son algunos de los riesgos que más preocupan a las empresas cuando utilizan IA Gen: el 57% de los encuestados afirmaron estar preocupados por la filtración de secretos en el código generado por IA.
«Las organizaciones que no gestionen el riesgo de la IA verán cómo sus modelos no funcionan según lo previsto y, en el peor de los casos, pueden causar daños humanos o materiales», ha afirmado Avivah Litan, analista de Gartner. «Esto provocará fallos de seguridad, pérdidas financieras y de reputación, y daños a las personas por resultados incorrectos, manipulados, poco éticos o sesgados. El mal funcionamiento de la IA también puede hacer que las organizaciones tomen malas decisiones empresariales».
En su propio estudio reciente sobre cuestiones de seguridad de la IA, IBM informó de que los líderes empresariales parecen estar priorizando el desarrollo de nuevas capacidades sin abordar los nuevos riesgos de seguridad.
Y ello a pesar de que el 96% de los que están adoptando IA Gen creen que esto hace probable una brecha de seguridad en su organización en los próximos tres años.
«A medida que la IA generativa prolifere en los próximos seis a doce meses, los expertos esperan que los nuevos ataques de intrusión exploten la escala, la velocidad, la sofisticación y la precisión, con nuevas amenazas constantes en el horizonte», según portavoces de IBM.
Para los equipos de redes y seguridad, los retos relacionados con la IA podrían incluir tener que luchar contra los grandes volúmenes de spam y correos electrónicos de phishing que la IA generativa puede crear; vigilar los ataques de denegación de servicio por esos grandes volúmenes de tráfico; y tener que buscar nuevo malware que sea más difícil de detectar y eliminar que el malware tradicional.
«Las organizaciones que no gestionan de forma coherente los riesgos de la IA están exponencialmente inclinadas a experimentar resultados adversos, como fracasos de proyectos e infracciones. Los resultados imprecisos, poco éticos o no intencionados de la IA, los errores de proceso y la interferencia de actores maliciosos pueden provocar fallos de seguridad, pérdidas o responsabilidades financieras y de reputación, y daños sociales», ha declarado Arun Chandrasekaran, distinguido vicepresidente analista de Gartner.
