Los avances digitales han generado una enorme riqueza en los últimos años, pero esa riqueza se ha concentrado en un pequeño número de personas, empresas y países.
En la actualidad, Estados Unidos y China crean la mayor parte de la riqueza de la economía digital, mientras que a Europa le cuesta seguir el ritmo. Con las políticas y normativas actuales, es probable que esta trayectoria continúe y siga agudizando el aumento de la desigualdad. Ahora debemos trabajar conjuntamente para cerrar la brecha digital, donde más de la mitad del mundo tiene acceso limitado o inexistente a Internet, ya que la inclusión es esencial para construir una economía digital que ofrezca beneficios para todos.
La economía digital requerirá una serie de destrezas nuevas y diferentes, así como una nueva era de la participación digital. Y lo que es aún más importante: necesitamos una gran inversión en educación, basada no solo en el aprendizaje, sino también en aprender a aprender, y en proporcionar acceso permanente a oportunidades de aprendizaje digital para todos. La conectividad asequible sigue siendo un gran reto en muchos países del mundo, especialmente en las zonas rurales y remotas. Con el fin de acelerar el acceso a los servicios TIC adecuados, se deben hacer esfuerzos para aumentar el acceso a servicios de Internet rápidos, asequibles y fiables. Las empresas digitales basan su éxito en disponer de personal creativo y cualificado, como desarrolladores de software, diseñadores y científicos de datos. Como consecuencia, ha surgido una nueva clase de profesionales. Sin embargo, un problema de primer orden para las empresas digitales locales es la capacidad de contratar y retener el talento disponible a nivel local.
¿Cuál es la posición de Huawei en estos temas? En primer lugar, la tecnología sirve de cimientos. Huawei pretende construir un mundo completamente conectado e inteligente, gracias a tecnologías innovadoras en cuanto a la conectividad, la computación, la inteligencia artificial, la nube y los dispositivos móviles. En segundo lugar, creemos que las aplicaciones son la clave para facilitar la inclusión. Huawei capacitará a los socios de este ecosistema y ayudará a los desarrolladores a crear aplicaciones personalizadas para diferentes regiones, comunidades, industrias y grupos. En tercer lugar, las destrezas proporcionan seguridad. Huawei trabajará con organizaciones, como gobiernos locales, universidades y comunidades, para mejorar las destrezas digitales y desarrollar talento digital para el futuro.
A través del trabajo con socios globales como agencias de las Naciones Unidas, ONG, institutos de investigación, gobiernos, operadores y clientes empresariales, promoveremos la inclusión digital centrándonos en cuatro dominios de profundo calado: fomentar la equidad y la calidad en la educación, proteger el medio ambiente, permitir la inclusión y la equidad en cuanto a la salud e impulsar un desarrollo equilibrado. En la actualidad, solo hemos dado un pequeño paso adelante. Esperamos que más personas y organizaciones se unan a la iniciativa de inclusión digital TECH4ALL para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de las Naciones Unidas.
En estas iniciativas de actores implicados, alianzas industriales y otras plataformas por la sostenibilidad regionales e internacionales promovemos la innovación y la colaboración para lograr objetivos de sostenibilidad. Para abordar el ciberacoso y la protección de la privacidad, Huawei ha trabajado con organizaciones de formación en seguridad cibernética y derechos infantiles en Europa y ha puesto en marcha el proyecto SmartBus. SmartBus es un aula digital móvil equipada con Wi-Fi que ofrece un entorno de aprendizaje atractivo, interactivo y divertido para niños de entre 11 y 15 años. Actualmente funciona en Bélgica, España, Portugal y los Países Bajos. Hasta la fecha, 126 escuelas de 79 ciudades y más de 20 000 estudiantes, 5000 padres y profesores han participado en el aprendizaje interactivo con SmartBus.
Encontrar profesionales cualificados en TIC sigue siendo un reto clave, incluso para los principales actores del sector. Huawei ha lanzado la ICT Academy, que ofrece formación sobre tecnologías TIC a estudiantes universitarios de todo el mundo y les anima a participar en nuestros programas de certificación. Tras formar a más de 45 000 estudiantes solo en 2019, la academia tiene como objetivo desarrollar talento TIC local para satisfacer la demanda futura y construir un ecosistema de talento sostenible. Actualmente, colaboramos con 938 universidades de 72 países y regiones para ofrecer servicios como el desarrollo de libros de texto, la formación de profesores, la construcción de laboratorios y la certificación de estudiantes .
