Diez previsiones de Juniper Research sobre lo que la compañía espera que sean los grandes hitos digital de 2020 y que abarcan distintos aspectos de la actualidad tecnológica, tanto desde un punto de vista comercial como para el consumidor.
1. Los despliegues de fibra de última milla, que se encargan de llevar la conectividad al hogar y que tienen un alto precio, serán reemplazados por el 5G para minimizar la inversión. La nueva red emerge como alternativa clave, especialmente en regiones de difícil acceso donde la introducción de fibra es más cara. La entrada de la quinta generación de red se acelerará en las regiones de Norteamérica, Europa y Asia-Pacífico.
2. La publicidad en servicios OTT TV se articulará mediante un ecosistema de atribución funcional. Crece la adopción de esta modalidad de sistemas y, por tanto, se buscarán vías para monetizar el contenido mediante anuncios de forma estructurada.
3. Las iniciativas de datos abiertos impulsarán la movilidad como servicio fuera de Europa. Si hasta ahora se centraba en esta región, las plataformas de MaaS se popularizarán en 2020 en varios países asiáticos, como China o Japón, y Estados Unidos.
4. Los modelos de suscripción en el mercado de juegos prosperarán, pero los elementos en directo de los juegos se reducirán. Se producirá una mejora general de la calidad de la experiencia de juego y se crearán propuestas de valor añadido que ponen el foco en la calidad y el contenido de jugador único, con lo que habrá una reducción de los elementos en directo.
5. Netflix buscará nuevas fuentes de crecimiento de ingresos a medida que aumente la competencia. El sector de las plataformas de contenido audiovisual está viviendo un momento de multiplicación de la oferta de servicios, con la entrada de actores tan poderosos como Disney+ o AppleTV. Así, en 2020, la que era la plataforma líder, Netflix, buscará mantener su posición mediante el foco en contenidos más localizados y de mayor calidad.
6. Google ampliará los servicios de su plataforma de mensajería RCS en Europa, buscando mejorar su posición en el mercado y recibir el apoyo de nuevos operadores.
7. Otra de Google: aprovechará la compra de Fitbit para plantar cara a Apple Watch. Anunciada a finales de año, la adquisición de la fabricante de pulseras por el gigante de las búsquedas se prevé como un movimiento para intentar tomar el mercado de los smartwatches con un nuevo lanzamiento en 2020.
8. El veto de varios países hacia Huawei y ZTE conllevará movimientos en el mercado 5G. Nokia y Ericsson serán las principales empresas beneficiadas de esta prohibición, aunque también puede generar un crecimiento desigual en el desarrollo de las redes, con aquellos países en los que se permita las marcas chinas beneficiándose de un menor coste de infraestructuras y, por tanto, de un despliegue más ágil, cuyos efectos se notarán en toda la siguiente década.
9. Los modelos de suscripción se erigirán como la vía para lanzar la robótica de consumo. Cambiarán los modelos de negocio de los fabricantes para permitir una mayor sostenibilidad para las empresas, mediante la actualización frecuente de los dispositivos. Se abrirán nuevas oportunidades de negocio en el mercado del hogar inteligente.
10. Las preocupaciones por la seguridad de los asistentes de voz llegarán a un punto crítico. En los últimos meses han ganado de forma importante en popularidad, pero al tiempo se han incrementado las preocupaciones por los problemas en la privacidad. Además, la normativa se ha ido endureciendo. Así, los fabricantes introducirán nuevas medidas de seguridad para ganar la confianza de los usuarios y reducir el volumen de datos que procesan, mientras continúan mejorando su capacidad.
