Un informe revela que el uso de la herramienta de moda y la confianzza en la misma crece en las organizaciones. Los líderes son más activos que los empleados de primera línea.
¿Cómo ha evolucionado el uso y la percepción del impacto que la IA puede tener en las empresas desde 2018? Esta es la principal pregunta a la que responde el informe AI at Work: What People Are Saying, de Boston Consulting Group.
“La inteligencia artificial es el nuevo ‘normal”, ha resumido Vinciane Beauchene, de la firma de análisis, durante la presentación de la investigación, que ha hablado con 13.000 personas, desde altos ejecutivos, pasando por cargos intermedios hasta empleados de primera línea de un total de 18 países.
Actualmente un 26% de los empleados consultados utiliza herramientas de inteligencia artificial varias veces por semana y el 46% ha indicado que la ha utilizado al menos una vez. Y en la medida que el uso se ha normalizado, la percepción sobre la herramienta ha mejorado. Así, en los últimos cinco años, la confianza en la tecnología ha aumentado un 17% y las inquietudes que genera han caído un 10%.
Claro que para exprimir el potencial de la tecnología al máximo, las organizaciones tienen que mirar a la formación y las autoridades deben ponerse las pilas en la definición de regulaciones. El 86% de los consultados cree que necesitan formación sobre la IA y el 79% considera que una regulación específica es necesaria para un uso seguro.
Uno de los puntos destacados de la investigación ha sido la gran diferencia de percepción de la tecnología entre los líderes, entendidos como personas con posiciones de responsabilidad en las empresas, y los empleados de primera línea. Estos últimos son mucho menos activos en el uso de la herramienta, más pesimistas y escépticos.
Así, el 80% de los líderes utilizan herramientas IA de forma regular. El uso cae en la medida que la responsabilidad lo hace (46% de los managers o cargos intermedios y 20% de los empleados asevera usarlas).
El sentimiento de desconfianza también tiene que ver con el miedo a que la IA acabe por eliminar algunos empleos. El 36% de los encuestados considera que sus empleos son susceptibles de desaparecer debido a la irrupción de la IA. Aunque los expertos del estudio desestiman la idea de que la IA vaya a destruir empleos, sí que reconocen la necesidad de formarse para que la herramienta acabe siendo un complemento que ayude a mejorar las capacidades laborales.
Así, el 86% de los encuestados admite que necesitarán formarse para hacer frente al impacto que la IA tendrá en sus puestos de trabajo. Apenas el 14% de los empleados asevera haberlo hecho, un porcentaje que se dispara al 44% en el caso de los líderes.
De aquellos que están utilizando la tecnología, ¿quién lo está haciendo de forma responsable? El 29% de los empleados y el 68% de los líderes consultados consideran que se han tomado las medidas de uso adecuadas. Y es que trabajar en programas sobre el uso adecuado de la IA generativa es el primer paso que las organizaciones deben dar antes de hacer uso de ella, un pensamiento que también pulula entre las compañías; el 79% considera que son necesarias regulaciones específicas.
Claro que la implementación y uso de la IA generativa requiere un cambio cultural de la compañía. Preguntados por CIO España por cómo afrontarlo cuando aún no se ha completado el cambio cultural que requiere la transformación digital per se, Beauchene, considera que el cambio cultural que requiere la IA “es muy diferente” al que implica la digitalización por la naturaleza de las actividades a las que la IA puede dar soporte, muy relacionadas con la creatividad. “La inteligencia artificial trae la tecnología al espacio de la creatividad”, ha declarado. “El cambio cultural necesario es la capacidad de evolucionar completamente”, ha concluido.
Desde BCG recomiendan la creación de espacios de experimentación segura, invertir en formación de talento y destinar recursos para la creación de programas que incentiven el uso ético de la tecnología.
