No cabe duda de que 2018 presenta muchos retos para las pymes. Las condiciones del mercado siguen siendo inestables en gran parte de Europa, después de un incierto 2017, y los consumidores seguirán pasando apuros: su poder adquisitivo está descendiendo a medida que aumenta el coste de vida.
Al mismo tiempo, es probable que muchas pymes sientan que la presión aumenta, con cambios normativos de gran alcance, como el Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (RGPD), que entrará en vigencia en mayo.
Para los líderes de las pymes, estos desafíos representan una gran oportunidad para conseguir un negocio más inteligente. Es el momento de poner a disposición de los colaboradores las herramientas y habilidades necesarias para trabajar de una manera más ágil. La buena noticia es que la agilidad está claramente en la agenda de las pymes.
El nuevo estudio sobre el lugar de trabajo digital encargado por Ricoh revela que el 86% de los responsables de las pymes europeas —una cifra que aumenta hasta el 90,8% en el caso de España— ya se están centrando en mejorar la agilidad empresarial este año. En este sentido, los directores de pymes deben enfocarse en tres aspectos concretos:
1. Facultar a los colaboradores para que tomen decisiones más rápidas: con demasiada frecuencia, los procesos internos son rígidos y obsoletos, y no se revisan con la periodicidad que deberían. Nuestra investigación revela que solo el 36% de los líderes de las pymes fomenta un entorno en el que su empresa pueda reaccionar rápidamente ante los cambios. Lo que funciona bien en los comienzos de una pyme no necesariamente continúa de esa manera, es necesario adaptarse al crecimiento. Cuando esto se combina con una cultura estratificada, se puede obstaculizar el surgimiento de ideas nuevas y potencialmente valiosas en la organización. Combatir esto regularmente mediante procesos de pruebas de estrés y revisiones de la tecnología del lugar de trabajo ayudará a garantizar que las mejores decisiones y elecciones se puedan identificar y aplicar rápidamente, sin importar de dónde provengan dentro del negocio.
2. Convertirse en un negocio mejor conectado: las pymes no deberían esperar mientras sus competidores más grandes y más equipados aprovechan al máximo los beneficios de la tecnología. Las tecnologías digitales son cada vez más comunes y rentables, lo que permite a las pequeñas y medianas empresas capitalizar los mismos beneficios de productividad. El 74% de los líderes de las pymes españolas cree que la tecnología es la base para que su organización prospere. El intercambio de conocimiento rápido y efectivo es vital para el crecimiento del negocio. A medida que el mercado evoluciona, también lo harán las expectativas de los colaboradores sobre el tipo de tecnología que se les brinda para que hagan el mejor trabajo posible. En particular, las soluciones de comunicación, tales como las videoconferencias, que admiten patrones de trabajo flexibles y remotos, y al mismo tiempo aumentan la productividad, son ya indispensables.
3. Profundizar más en los datos: muchos directores de pymes toman decisiones basadas en la intuición y el instinto. Aunque esto es admirable y demuestra su conocimiento del mercado, ¿no sería mejor conocer los productos exactos por los que los clientes pagarían más o el momento preciso en que los suministros no podrán satisfacer la demanda? Aunque el 64% de los líderes de las pymes lo reconocen y quieren priorizar la inversión en tecnología de análisis de datos (en el caso de las pymes españolas esta cifra sube hasta el 78%), lo que realmente cuenta es la forma en que utilizan la información: conocer los datos a fondo permitirá encontrar tendencias que anteriormente estaban ocultas. Esto puede ser muy valioso para ayudar a los colaboradores de las pymes a tomar decisiones más inteligentes y para aumentar su efectividad. Por ejemplo, incentivando a sus mejores clientes con ofertas y comunicaciones personalizadas.
Los directores de las pymes tienen mucho que hacer: administrar el crecimiento, aplicar las nuevas regulaciones e invertir para el futuro. Además, los mismos desafíos también reestructuran las necesidades de sus clientes y sus posibilidades futuras. El truco es comenzar a invertir en las herramientas y la tecnología adecuadas para responder de manera apropiada y con rapidez. Y no hay tiempo que perder, iniciar este camino hoy es esencial. El 52% de los responsables de las pymes españolas creen que si las empresas no introducen nuevas tecnologías pronto, quebrarán dentro de 5 años. En definitiva, la clave para prosperar es una mentalidad ágil y el uso de las capacidades que ofrecen los avances tecnológicos para seguir creciendo a pesar de los desafíos que nos esperan.
