Alrededor de dos tercios de las empresas actuales aseguran tener las capacidades digitales (60%) y de liderazgo (62%) necesarias para implementar con éxito la transformación digital, un aumento desde el 36% en ambos frentes en solo dos años, y en ello el coronavirus ha actuado como un “potente acelerador”.
Así lo revela el informe del Instituto de Investigación de Capgemini en el que se analiza cómo han progresado las empresas en sus transformaciones digitales en los últimos dos años tras encuestar a 1.000 directivos de empresas de diversos sectores con al menos 1.000 millones de dólares de ingresos.
El informe compara la madurez digital con la de 2018 y resalta que, aunque mejoran las empresas de todos los sectores, los maestros digitales (aquellas empresas con un alto nivel de dominio en las capacidades digitales y de liderazgo) aumentan la ventaja con sus competidores.
De esta forma, el análisis concluye que las grandes empresas, con 10.000 millones de dólares o más de beneficios, van un paso por delante tanto en las capacidades digitales como de liderazgo. Aproximadamente el 68% de estas empresas afirman que disponen de las capacidades digitales necesarias, en comparación con el 55% de aquellas con menos de 10.000 millones de dólares de beneficio.
Respecto a las capacidades de liderazgo, el 57% de las empresas más pequeñas afirman que disponen de las capacidades de liderazgo necesarias, algo por debajo de la media general del 62%, y del 70% que se puede ver entre las grandes empresas.
Desde una perspectiva sectorial, todos han progresado tanto en capacidades digitales como de liderazgo desde 2018, pero el sector retail supera ahora a todos los demás, ya que el 73% afirman de sus empresas que disponen de las capacidades digitales para la transformación, en comparación con el 37% de hace dos años. Por detrás se sitúan las empresas de telecomunicaciones, de las que un 71% señala que tiene las capacidades suficientes.
No obstante, las compañías de automoción lideran el índice en términos de incremento de capacidades, ya que se han crecido hasta el 69% desde el 32% en 2018.
La investigación de 2018 indicaba que la dimensión del personal constituía una barrera notable frente a la transformación digital puesto que las organizaciones no conseguían implicar a los empleados. Esto ha cambiado y, ahora, cada vez más empresas implican a los trabajadores en sus iniciativas digitales: el 63% en 2020, frente al 36% en 2018.
Pese a este progreso, cuando se trata de la creación de habilidades, Capgemini señala que menos de la mitad de las empresas (48%) invierten en crear habilidades sociales como inteligencia emocional, adaptabilidad y colaboración.
El informe también destaca que la cultura es la principal barrera frente al éxito en la transformación digital, con empresas, por ejemplo, que no disponen de una cultura donde se valoren las nuevas ideas y la experimentación.
Por último, el informe subraya que, aparte de centrarse en aspectos como la experiencia del cliente, operaciones y tecnología comercial, las compañías deben poner atención en la sostenibilidad y su finalidad dentro de sus estrategias de digitalización.
