Para los profesionales de Seguridad de la Información españoles, los servicios financieros (46%), Sanidad (38%) y Administración Pública (36%) están siendo los sectores más afectados por el aumento de los ciberataques durante la pandemia, según un estudio de Bitdefender.
El 55% de los profesionales de Seguridad de la Información españoles (50% a nivel global) afirman que sus organizaciones no tenían o desconocen si existía un plan de contingencia para afrontar adecuadamente una crisis como la de Covid-19. El problema se agrava si tenemos en cuenta que un 13% de los profesionales españoles (18% a nivel global) que sí disponía de este plan declara no haberlo seguido.
Esta falta de planificación ha supuesto un gran riesgo para las empresas, ya que un 86% de los profesionales de ciberseguridad consultados por Bitdefender dicen que los ciberataques han aumentado durante la pandemia. Así, a nivel global, los ataques dirigidos a la cadena de suministro, los relacionados con Internet de las Cosas (IoT) y las acciones de ciberguerra se han incrementado en un 38% en cada categoría durante este periodo. Según Bitdefender, si estos datos se confirman, el año 2020 podría terminar situándose en lo más alto del pódium en lo que a infracciones de ciberseguridad se refiere.
Los profesionales de Seguridad de la Información coinciden en que tras esta crisis va a ser necesario abordar cambios estratégicos con agilidad. No en vano, el 82% de los encuestados españoles (81% de todos los países) está convencido de que el COVID-19 va a cambiar la forma en la que operan sus empresas a largo plazo.
La encuesta encargada por Bitdefender se llevó a cabo durante el pasado mes de mayo y recoge las opiniones de 6.700 profesionales de Seguridad de la Información (526 de compañías españolas), de los que un 23% son CISO, CSO y CIO en organizaciones de todos los tamaños y múltiples sectores de diez países: Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Alemania, Francia, Italia, España, Dinamarca y Suecia.
Para las empresas de todo el mundo, el desafío más visible de esta crisis ha sido el de tener que adaptar su actividad en muy pocos días para que gran parte de sus empleados pudieran trabajar desde casa. Según Bitdefender, estos cambios tan rápidos han supuesto una oportunidad excelente para que los hackers pusieran más énfasis a la hora de intentar acceder a los datos corporativos. De esta forma, el 30% de los profesionales españoles de la compañía Infosec (20% a nivel global) informan que durante la pandemia se han incrementado los ataques dirigidos a sus compañías basados en troyanos, y un 27% (26% a nivel global) afirman que también se han incrementado las campañas de phishing o whaling.
Si bien ese aumento es alarmante, la tasa a la que han aumentado los ataques en el conjunto todos los sectores y empresas es aún más preocupante. Así, según los encuestados españoles, los ataques relacionados con social media y chatbots se han incrementado en un 38% y los relacionados con IoT, ciberguerra y phishing y whaling, en cerca de un 34%. A nivel global sobresale el incremento de los ciberataques dirigidos a la cadena de suministro, con un 38% de incremento, aunque hay que destacar que todas las tipologías de ataque han crecido entre un 30 y un 40%, como el ransomware (31%) y los ataques DDoS (36%).

Los profesionales de ciberseguridad se muestran preocupados por las implicaciones que va a tener el trabajo desde casa en la seguridad de sus empresas. Al 36% de los profesionales de ciberseguridad españoles les preocupa que sus empleados acaben siendo presa de ataques de phishing o whaling. A nivel global, la principal preocupación para más de un tercio de los encuestados (34%) es que el ambiente de seguridad y privacidad que ofrecen los hogares haga bajar la guardia a los trabajadores. También temen (33%) que los empleados se vuelvan más perezosos a la hora de alertar sobre posibles amenazas o actividades sospechosas o que faciliten de forma involuntaria alguna fuga de datos (31%).
Los expertos encuestados tampoco tienen claro que estemos preparados para afrontar los peligros que supone el trabajo desde casa. Así, al 51% de los españoles (40% global) le preocupa que las redes que utilizan sus empleados no sean fiables. Un 41% (38% a nivel global) piensa que existen muchas posibilidades de que un amigo o familiar utilice en un determinado momento el dispositivo corporativo a disposición del empleado; un 40% destaca los riesgos de usar cuentas de correo electrónico o de mensajería instantánea personales para temas laborales, y también ven la divulgación no intencionada de información de la empresa como un peligro con el que lidiar.
Si bien no hay duda de que todos los sectores están en riesgo, los encuestados españoles creen que los servicios financieros (46%), el sector sanitario (38%) y la Administración Pública (36%) están siendo los más afectados por el aumento de los ciberataques durante la pandemia de Covid-19. En menor medida mencionan al Retail (25%), la Educación (22%), el sector Legal (22%) o el sector energético (17%). De manera generalizada, un 85% de los profesionales de Infosec españoles (77% a nivel global) coinciden en que el sector Salud no ha podido prepararse adecuadamente debido a limitaciones presupuestarias.
