En 2023, las redes 5G soportarán más del 10% de todas las conexiones móviles a escala global. La velocidad media de 5G será de 575 megabits por segundo, 13 veces mayor que la conexión móvil media. Con un rendimiento optimizado, la nueva generación proporcionará infraestructuras móviles más dinámicas para IA y aplicaciones emergentes de IoT, incluyendo vehículos autónomos, ciudades inteligentes, salud conectada o vídeo inmersivo, entre otras.
Son datos del informe Cisco Annual Internet Report, que analiza la evolución de las redes móviles, Wi-Fi y de banda ancha fija con previsiones cuantitativas sobre el crecimiento de usuarios, dispositivos y conexiones, así como el rendimiento de la red y otras tendencias relevantes entre 2018 y 2023.
En España, las redes 5G soportarán más del 15% de todas las conexiones móviles en 2023. Habrá 17,2 millones de conexiones 5G, y la velocidad media de 5G será de 655 megabits por segundo, 7,5 veces mayor que la conexión móvil media (83,2 Mbps).
Las redes sociales, la transmisión y descarga de vídeos, la productividad empresarial, el comercio electrónico y el segmento de juegos impulsarán el continuo crecimiento de aplicaciones móviles, con cerca de 300.000 millones de aplicaciones descargadas en 2023 (2.400 millones en España).
1. – Usuarios de Internet en 2023
• El 66% de la población mundial (5.300 millones de personas) serán usuarios de Internet. En España habrá 36,5 millones de internautas (78% de la población) desde los 34,8 millones (74% de la población) en 2018.
• Más del 70% de la población mundial (5.700 millones de personas) tendrán conectividad móvil (2G, 3G, 4G o 5G). En España habrá 40,5 millones de usuarios (87% de la población) con conectividad móvil (2G, 3G, 4G o 5G).
2. – Dispositivos y conexiones en 2023
• Habrá 29.300 millones de conexiones/dispositivos conectados en todo el mundo (3,6 por persona y casi 10 por hogar). En España habrá 350,1 millones de dispositivos conectados (7,5 por persona) desde los 211 millones en 2018 (4,5 per cápita); 110,8 millones serán dispositivos móviles (70 millones en 2018) y 239,3 millones serán fijos/Wi-Fi (141 millones en 2018).
• Casi la mitad (el 47%) de todos los dispositivos y conexiones tendrán capacidad para procesar vídeo.
• Las conexiones Máquina-a-Máquina (M2M) que soportan una amplia gama de aplicaciones de IoT supondrán cerca del 50% (14.700 millones) del total de conexiones y dispositivos a escala global. En España, los módulos M2M supondrán el 62% (217,2 millones) del total de conexiones y dispositivos.
3. – Previsiones móviles para 2023
• El 45% de todos los dispositivos conectados a escala global tendrán conectividad móvil (3G o menor, 4G, 5G o Low Power Wide Area [LPWA]) y el 55% se conectarán mediante redes fijas o Wi-Fi. En España, el 32% de todos los dispositivos conectados tendrán conectividad móvil (2G/3G, 4G, 5G o LPWA) y el 68% se conectarán mediante redes fijas o Wi-Fi.
• Las conexiones 5G supondrán el 10,6% del total de conexiones móviles a escala global, frente al 0% en 2018. En España, las conexiones 5G supondrán el 15,5% del total de conexiones (0% en 2018), las conexiones 4G, el 48,3% (51,7% en 2018), y las conexiones 3G/2G, el 7,4% (38,6% en 2018).
• Las conexiones LPWA representarán el 14,4% del total de conexiones móviles a escala global, frente al 2,5% en 2018. En España, las conexiones LPWA representarán el 28,8% del total de conexiones móviles (9,7% en 2018).
4. – Previsiones Wi-Fi para 2023
• Los puntos de acceso Wi-Fi se multiplicarán por cuatro entre 2018 y 2023 a escala global. Habrá 628 millones de puntos de acceso Wi-Fi público en todo el mundo, desde los 169 millones contabilizados en 2018. En España, incluyendo puntos de acceso del hogar, se multiplicarán por cinco entre 2018 y 2023 hasta los 14,3 millones (2,9 millones en 2018). Los puntos de acceso Wi-Fi aumentarán desde los 2,7 millones hasta los 14,1 millones entre 2018 y 2023, multiplicándose por cinco.
5. – Rendimiento de las redes (móviles, Wi-Fi y banda ancha fija) para 2023
• La velocidad media de las conexiones móviles a escala global se multiplicará por más de tres entre 2018 y 2023 desde los 13 Mbps (2018) hasta los 44 Mbps (2023). En España, la velocidad media de las conexiones móviles se multiplicará por 3,3 entre 2018 y 2023, desde los 25,3 Mbps (2018) hasta los 83,2 Mbps (2023).
• La velocidad media de las conexiones Wi-Fi a escala global se multiplicará por más de tres desde los 30 Mbps (2018) hasta los 92 Mbps (2023). En España, la velocidad media de las conexiones Wi-Fi se multiplicará por 3,9 desde los 43,8 Mbps (2018) hasta los 169 Mbps (2023).
• La velocidad media de las conexiones de banda ancha fija a escala global se incrementará más del doble entre 2018 y 2023, desde los 46 Mbps (2018) hasta los 110 Mbps (2023). En España, la velocidad media de las conexiones de banda ancha fija se multiplicará por 2,8 entre 2018 y 2023, desde los 69,6 Mbps (2018) hasta los 193,4 Mbps (2023).
6. – Tendencias en ciberseguridad (2018-2019)
• La frecuencia de los ataques de denegación de servicio (DDoS) se ha incrementado un 39% a escala global entre 2018 y 2019.
• El tamaño máximo de los ataques DDos ha aumentado un 63% interanual a nivel mundial.
• El tamaño medio de los ataques DDoS es de 1 Gbps, siendo el 23% -casi uno de cada cuatro- mayores; los ataques de entre 100 Gbps y 400 Gbps han crecido un 776% interanual.
