Desde el 3 hasta el 7 de noviembre, la firma analista Gartner celebra su encuentro más importante de EMEA dedicado a los CIO: Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2019, en el que la organización reconoce las dificultades que han de afrontar los responsables de tecnología de las empresas a la hora de afrontar con éxito sus proyectos de IT en el momento actual.
Para Gartner, los líderes del sector tecnológico han de encontrar maneras de navegar entre tanta incertidumbre con el propósito de tener éxito frente a las fuerzas que modelan los cambios geopolíticos, económicos y la emergencia de gigantes digitales. Estos tres “turns” o fuerzas que, según sus analistas, generan grandes dosis de incertidumbre y presión a los CIO, representan un cambio excepcional que está teniendo lugar en la actualidad.
“Transitar con éxito en una sociedad digital a través de estar tres fuerzas requiere que cada organización tenga la capacidad de encontrar su propio ‘TechQuilibrium’, un proceso que pasa por identificar el punto de equilibrio tecnológico que defina el grado de digitalización de una organización para ser competitiva o para liderar una sociedad digital», afirmaba Don Scheibenreif, vicepresidente de análisis de Gartner.
Para este experto, aplicar los principios enumerados por Gartner con la finalidad de encontrar lo que denomina como ‘TechQuilibrium’, ayudará a los CIO en la localización de puntos de equilibrio entre complicadas disrupciones y la gran cantidad de extremos que las empresas han de afrontar a día de hoy. “Los CIO han de cooperar con los directivos en el diseño de propuestas de valor que sean capaces de dirigir con destreza la mezcla del negocio tradicional y el digital. Cuando una organización alcanza este punto de equilibrio se puede decir que ha logrado su propio ‘Techquilibrium’; ya que no todas las industrias han de realizar su proceso de transformación digital necesariamente de la misma manera, ni con la misma intensidad y alcance”, afirmaba Scheibenreif.
Los analistas de Gartner señalan, asimismo, que la estrategia de digitalización más reciente que aborda un número creciente de negocios consiste en emprender un rápido proceso de transformación digital de sus operaciones internas, y trasladar a su ámbito externo –y con la misma velocidad– una propuesta de valor. En este sentido, el analista de Gartner Valentin Stribar, señaló que “la mayoría de las empresas necesitan imprimir aceleración en sus iniciativas digitales con la finalidad de lograr el techquilibrium porque cuanto más lejos lleguen las compañías en sus respectivos sectores al punto de equilibrio, más fácil será para éstas afrontar las disrupciones”.
Ecuanimidad entre personas y máquinas
Según puntualiza Stribar, la toma de decisiones acertadas resulta vital para el éxito de toda organización. En este contexto, y en la medida en la que las empresas van incorporando más y más tecnología, cada vez más decisiones también son tomadas de manera automática en una sociedad digital lo cual podría dificultar el mantenimiento de liderazgo de las personas. “Las empresas han de localizar el techquilibrium entre el equipo humano que toma decisiones y los sistemas de inteligencia artificial que también deciden por su cuenta ciertas acciones.” Gartner predice que en 2022, el 40% de los empleados consultará con un agente de IA para apoyar su toma de decisiones. Asimismo, la firma de análisis señala que la mayoría de entornos TI particularmente complejos, y con una gran riqueza de datos en gran cantidad de ellos, requerirán de la asociación entre personas y máquinas, con la finalidad de que estas últimas realicen el duro trabajo de procesamiento de datos, para que las personas interpreten y refuercen sus argumentos de decisión.
