De acuerdo con un reciente informe global realizado por Kaspersky Lab, 1 de cada 3 consumidores españoles encuestados (36%) no sabe cómo mantener completamente protegida su privacidad online. Esta impotencia a la hora de asegurar la privacidad online es lo que se conoce como fatiga de privacidad, y a menudo lleva a compartir demasiado en redes sociales y a ignorar los riesgos inherentes de seguridad. Sin embargo, este no es el mejor momento para bajar la guardia, una actitud poco cuidadosa hacia la privacidad puede convertirnos en un objetivo fácil para los cibercriminales.

Actualmente, el 90% de las personas se conecta varias veces al día, Internet se ha convertido en algo esencial para nuestro día a día. Este hecho supone un importante reto para los usuarios que quieren mantener sus datos personales bajo control. De acuerdo con el estudiode Kaspersky Lab, el 13% de consumidores españoles ha visto cómo su información privada o de sus familiares se ha hecho pública.
Los esfuerzos para ser menos visible en internet conducen a lo que se denomina fatiga de privacidad. La fatiga de privacidad está conectada con el hecho de vivir en tensión constante, con un sentimiento continuo de que terceros están aprovechándose de su información personal, y de que cualquier esfuerzo por evitarlo es vano. De hecho, algunas personas creen que no tienen suficiente poder para hacer frente a la violación de su privacidad. Algo más de un tercio de los encuestados españoles (36%) no se ve capaz de proteger su privacidad online, aunque solo el 5% de ellos ha perdido el interés por descubrir cómo mejorar su privacidad.
Esta impotencia ligada a los problemas de privacidad también afecta al comportamiento online de las personas. Una buena parte de los encuestados españoles no hace esfuerzos extra para asegurar su privacidad mientras navega por internet desde sus dispositivos. De hecho, el 42% no limpia su historial de navegación y tan solo el 24% utiliza complementos para bloquear las funciones de seguimiento online.
Marina Titova, directora de marketing de productos de consumo de Kaspersky Lab, explica: “El incremento de las brechas de datos, unido a la dificultad de gestionar los datos personales online, lleva a los consumidores a sentir una pérdida de control y a estar cansados de pensar sobre su privacidad digital. No existe una solución mágica, pero sí hay muchas formas de reducir los riesgos. Todo comienza con una buena higiene digital y con utilizar herramientas avanzadas y tecnologías que les ayuden a mantener su privacidad digital en orden”.
La apatía a largo plazo puede conllevar importantes problemas. Hay muchos cibercriminales preparados para adueñarse de la privacidad de otros y sacar beneficios manipulando la información personal de otros usuarios.
Para asegurar su privacidad digital, Kaspersky Lab da unas sencillas recomendaciones:
Gestione su huella digital: mantenga una lista de sus cuentas y compruebe regularmente si sus datos son de acceso público. Cree una cuenta de correo electrónico alternativa
Utilice herramientas digitales especiales para navegar por internet de forma segura, como Private Browsing y para detectar el acceso de webcams o micrófonos en aplicaciones no confiables
Instale soluciones de seguridad fiables que incluyan funcionalidades para minimizar los riesgos de violación de la privacidad tales como Kaspersky Security Cloud, Kaspersky Secure Connection o Kaspersky Password Manager.
