En septiembre de 2017, el negocio de las telecomunicaciones sumaba un nuevo actor en España: la multinacional griega Intracom Telecom, proveedor global de sistemas y soluciones de telecomunicaciones. Con la apertura de una filial en Madrid y puesto el foco en la transformación digital de la era 5G, está participando activamente en el proceso de modernización de la economía española.
Durante este tiempo, ha ayudado a los proveedores locales de internet (ISP), a conseguir velocidades de conexión 5G y aportar conectividad en áreas de difícil acceso, como las rurales o las industriales, donde la banda ancha no llega y sin embargo existe una enorme necesidad de conectividad. La compañía viene realizando proyectos similares en varios países, como por ejemplo Italia, donde el problema de conectividad en zonas rurales es similar al de España.
Ercole Rovida, vicepresidente de Ventas para Iberia, Italia y Latinoamérica de Intracom Telecom, ha comentado al respecto que: “en España existen más de 4.000 pequeños y medianos operadores que están desarrollando redes donde las grandes operadoras tienen dificultades y no llega la fibra óptica. La necesidad de un amplio ancho de banda en zonas rurales o no urbanas, para dotarles de servicios de calidad y garantizar rendimientos a niveles de tecnología de fibra, están ahí. Hay que cubrir esta demanda. El objetivo pasa por dotar a estas comunidades de conexión y servicios de calidad, como la Televisión UHD, servicios de realidad virtual aumentada, telefonía, juegos online o servicios en la nube. Es decir, llegar con una mayor capacidad a más zonas y con latencias extremadamente bajas”.
Intracom Telecom se ha convertido de hecho en España en referente del sector de Banda Ultra-Ancha. La compañía firmó en julio de 2018 unacuerdo estratégico con la Asociación Nacional de Operadores Locales de Telecomunicaciones (AOTEC), para suministrar a la organización servicios de banda ancha ultrarrápidos durante los próximos dos años. En el marco de este acuerdo, los operadores podrán acceder a soluciones de punto a multipunto de banda ancha ultrarrápida para la banda con licencia de 28 GHz, que ofrece capacidades de 200 Mbps a clientes residenciales y de negocio.
Es precisamente esta capacidad de ofrecer soluciones de punto a multipunto, además de soluciones de punto a punto, el valor diferencial de Intracom Telecom con respecto al resto de operadores. “Como no es necesario instalar fibra, el desarrollo es muy rápido, reduciéndose de forma importante el time-to-market. Llegamos así mucho antes que los grandes operadores”,- ha declarado Ercole Rovida.
Esta alianza permitirá a los operadores locales españoles acceder a través de AOTEC, a soluciones de vanguardia desarrolladas dentro de la Unión Europea, ampliando el rango de posibilidades para todas las pequeñas y medianas empresas de nuestro país, que según los últimos datos de mayo de 2018 del Gobierno, ascendían a 2.876.302 empresas.
El mayor reto de su historia
El mercado de las telecomunicaciones está cambiando muy rápidamente y está previsto que la demanda de datos crecerá en múltiplos de 10 en los próximos años. Las empresas deben transformarse para poder ser competitivas y tienen que hacerlo con extrema velocidad si quieren sobrevivir. El volumen de datos que se generaban en 2013 se multiplicará por 10 en el 2020, de ahí la afirmación de que estamos en la era de la hiperconectividad, todo y todos conectados en cualquier sitio.
Así lo corroboran los últimos datos de Cisco en cuanto a: la evolución prevista de usuarios de Internet de 2017 a 2022 en el mundo, los dispositivos y conexiones per cápita, así como la velocidad y tráfico medio per cápita/mes. La previsión para 2022 es que el 59,7% de la población mundial serán usuarios de Internet, con 3,6 dispositivos y conexiones per cápita, con una velocidad media de 75,4 Mbps y un tráfico per cápita/mes de 48,8 GB. Hay que destacar el gran salto cualitativo que se experimentará de 2017 a 2022 en cuanto a velocidad (con un incremento estimado del 93,5%), tráfico medio per cápita (un incremento del 208%) y tráfico global (de 46.600 GB/segundo en 2017 a 150.700 GB/segundo en 2022). Así, el mix de dispositivos y conexiones generado por los múltiples dispositivos de los usuarios, cambiará la tipología del tráfico IP total. En 2022 se prevé que el 81% del tráfico IP y del tráfico Internet se originará a partir de dispositivos que no sean PC.
En la misma línea se posiciona una encuesta realizada por Ernst & Young entre las empresas de la industria de las telecomunicaciones, refrendando que el mercado está cambiando más rápido que nunca. Estamos en plena transformación digital. Preguntado el sector acerca de cuáles son los tres desafíos más importantes a los que se enfrenta estemercado, el 74% de los entrevistados contestó que la competencia disruptiva, el 47% la agilidad necesaria para responder a los retos del mercado y el 37% el retorno de la inversión.
La erosión de flujos de ingresos tradicionales está forzando a los operadores a considerar nuevas formas de seguir siendo atractivos para los clientes privados y corporativos. El nuevo ecosistema de las telco es tan dinámico que requiere un cambio radical por parte de los operadores. Han de aprender de las empresas de la nube o bien establecer acuerdos para crecer.
Así, para tener éxito en la era de la hiperconectividad hay que aplicar cambios importantes: en la estrategia de ventas; la organización para ser más flexibles; diseñar un portfolio de productos a prueba de futuro; adaptarse al mercado; estudiar los clientes e identificar sus necesidades y reducir el time to market.
Previsiones de Intracom Telecom
El proveedor de sistemas y soluciones de telecomunicaciones griego espera seguir incrementando el volumen de negocio durante 2019, estableciendo a España como el eje para una futura entrada en el mercado latinoamericano. “España es un referente para Latinoamérica, puesto que los países de este continente se fijan en los proyectos de redes que se están desarrollando en España”,- prosiguió Ercole Rovida.
