A esto se suma la fiebre por el dinero digital y el aumento de ataques virtuales que lleva asociada esta nueva moda. Síntoma de ello es el crecimiento de ataques como el criptojacking, ‘secuestro’ de dispositivos informáticos para minar criptomonedas. Una práctica que en abril de 2018 alcanzó las 127.000 muestras ─un 74% de las detectadas al inicio del año─, según el último informe sobre Cryptojacking del CCN-CERT.
Visto este contexto, los departamentos expertos en la materia de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity prevén que los ciberdelincuentes centren sus esfuerzos durante 2019 en diez grandes tendencias:
1.- La irrupción de los criptomineros
Antonio Morales, auditor senior de seguridad en el departamento de Hacking Ético de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity, y experto en criptomonedas, revela que “los mineros de criptomonedas son el mayor dolor de cabeza del FBI”. Algo que contó a los asistentes de su ponencia ‘Crypto Crimen: Here’s my 2 cents or my 2 mBTCs?’, llevada a cabo durante las XII Jornadas STIC del CCN-CERT.
“El concepto de ‘recolección de claves’ nace por el interés de una tercera entidad en rastrear las transacciones de Monero, con el objetivo de crear una base de datos paralela de información para su uso, sea cual sea este”, algo que, según Morales, solo se consigue con pensamiento lateral.
Los departamentos expertos en la materia de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity prevén las seguientes tendencias de ciberseguridad
Una opinión que refutan los últimos datos publicados en el informe sobre Cryptojacking del CCN-CERT: el número de muestras de este tipo de código dañino rondaba en enero de 2018 las 94.000, mientras que sólo 3 meses más tarde, esta cifra llego a incrementarse un 74% (127.000 muestras).
2.- Inteligencia Artificial: nuevo punto de ataque
Para Jorge Uyá, Director de Operaciones de Seguridad de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity, el punto de mira del cibercrimen se situará durante 2019 en la Inteligencia Artificial: “Ya lo preveíamos en años anteriores, pero en 2019 llegará con fuerza el uso de la Inteligencia Artificial a las organizaciones”.
Será en forma de algoritmos programados para optimizar la toma de decisiones y la ejecución de acciones y se vulnerará para favorecer los intereses de los atacantes y comprometer la actividad de las empresas. “Aunque presentan una mayor complejidad, la protección de todos los puntos desde los que se pueda acceder a ellos es fundamental desde las primeras fases de desarrollo, algo para lo que nuestro SmartSOC ya está preparado”, hace saber Uyá.
3.- Aumento de la preocupación sobre la privacidad de los datos personales
“Con la entrada en vigor de la nueva RGPD (25 de mayo de 2018) las empresas han incrementado su preocupación sobre las medidas de seguridad a implantar en sus organizaciones (fugas de información) debido a las altas sanciones definidas”, afirma Ramón Ynat, Responsable de Riesgo y Cumplimiento de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity. “Las pymes españolas siguen sin estar adaptadas una vez entrado en vigor el RGPD. Para ello, nosotros recomendamos acudir a asesores que tengan detrás el respaldo de grandes clientes, como es el caso de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity, antes que optar por la opción más barata, algo que puede salir muy caro”, advierte Ynat.
4.- Ransomware: bajará el uso del malware más rentable
En la línea de años anteriores, se mantendrá esta práctica estrella para los ciberdelincuentes, aunque su uso irá en declive en favor de los criptomineros. “El ransomware no es nuevo, lleva con nosotros muchos años y, a pesar de que ha proseguido su sofisticación, todo apunta a un descenso en el número de ataques para 2019”, afirma Félix Muñoz, Director General de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity.
5.- Ataque al CEO y usos de dispositivos móviles: los más clásicos
Previsiblemente, el clásico ataque al CEO también seguirá produciéndose con gran frecuencia por la escasa complejidad que supone. Además, “el uso de los dispositivos móviles para acceder a los datos y a los sistemas de las empresas integrados en la nube será una tendencia al alza”, sentencia Muñoz.
6.- Aplicaciones móviles maliciosas
Las aplicaciones móviles maliciosas no solo están en las tiendas no oficiales sino también en Google Play y App Store: “Nuestro SmartSOC ha detectado un aumento de aplicaciones troyanas en Google Play y App Store, capaces de robar credenciales de los usuarios e interceptar mensajes de texto, así como introducir criptomineros ocultos ayudándose de aplicaciones supuestamente inofensivas”, considera el Director de Operaciones de Seguridad.
7.- Superficies de ataque
Los ciberincidentes van a continuar creciendo y tratando de comprometer cualquier tipo de dispositivo que tenga conectividad (tablets, móviles, dispositivos IoT o dispositivos de red). A esto se suma, además, la aparición de nuevas Amenazas Avanzadas Persistentes, o APT, sofisticados a determinadas organizaciones.
8.- Más puntos de ataque con la incorporación del Internet de las Cosas (IoT)
El crecimiento del Internet de las Cosas (IoT) en el 2017 y su consolidación en los años posteriores, ha multiplicado los dispositivos y sistemas que pueden ser vulnerados, creando más objetivos para los cibercriminales. Con esta mayor utilización de dispositivos IoT en las empresas se incrementa el número de puntos que pueden ser empleados para acceder a la información y atacar a sus sistemas. “Para proteger eficazmente los activos de las organizaciones, desde Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity incluimos en los planes de ciberseguridad de nuestros clientes todos los dispositivos conectados, desde ordenadores y móviles a videocámaras o coches inteligentes”, avisa el Director General de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity.
9.- Foco en las infraestructuras críticas y OT
Tras la aprobación de la trasposición de la nueva directiva NIS, que obliga a todos los operadores de infraestructuras críticas y a los operadores esenciales a proteger de forma adecuada sus redes y sistemas de información, además de obligarles a notificar incidentes, los servicios de Compliance y Gestión de Riesgos de Entelgy Innotec Cybersecurity esperan que este foco ocupe parte su trabajo durante 2019.
10.- El espionaje seguirá a la orden del día
Muchos dispositivos y gadgets incorporan ‘de fábrica’ un software malicioso que puede acceder a la información almacenada, a la cámara o al micrófono del dispositivo sin la autorización del usuario final. Para aportar soluciones, Jorge Uyá considera que la solución pasa por las auditorías de seguridad de los dispositivos, que “tratarán de paliar este tipo de vulnerabilidad, que es cada vez más difícil de detectar, pues tener acceso a la información significa tener el poder”, concluye Uyá.
