La nueva edición del “Informe anual del sector TIC y de los contenidos” –que publica el Observatorio Nacional de las Telecomunicaciones y de la Sociedad de la Información (ONTSI), del Ministerio de Economía y Empresa, que gestiona la entidad pública Red.es-, revela un crecimiento en 2017 del 2,4% en la cifra de negocio de este sector económico, lo que se traduce en 108.862 millones de euros. La facturación crece de este modo por cuarto año consecutivo y confirma que el sector atraviesa por un momento de dinamismo y expansión.
El balance es también positivo para otros indicadores principales, especialmente el de la creación de empleo, ya que los puestos de trabajo del sector ascendieron en 2017 un 5,3% hasta situarse en 496.761 personas, lo que supone un incremento por quinto año consecutivo del número de personas empleadas. Aumenta también el número de empresas, que sumaron 34.004, con un crecimiento del 2,5%.
La inversión realizada en el año 2017 crece un 1,9% y alcanza los 18.267 millones de euros, aunque este incremento se debe exclusivamente al sector de los contenidos (+12,8%), ya que la inversión en el sector TIC ha permanecido prácticamente invariable (-0,02%).
De esta forma, el sector TIC y de los contenidos aporta a la economía española 44.497 millones de euros, es decir, el 4,2% del Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) del país.
Dentro del sector, destaca la aportación que hacen las empresas TIC a la facturación total de 2017, ya que su actividad representa el 80,5%, con una cifra de negocio de 87.627 millones de euros (un 1,2% más que el ejercicio anterior). Resulta especialmente relevante el incremento en el empleo, que sube un 6,3%, y alcanza los 391.001 puestos de trabajo.
El número de empresas con actividad en el sector TIC fue de 24.219, lo que supone un aumento interanual del 3,4%. Estas compañías realizaron inversiones por valor de 15.195 millones de euros en 2017, un 0,02% menos que el año anterior.
Las ramas de fabricación (+5,5%) y de comercio al por mayor (+4,4%) y actividades informáticas (+1,4%) son las que influyen en el crecimiento en facturación en el sector TIC. Por el contrario, el volumen de negocio de la rama de telecomunicaciones disminuye un 1,8%.
En el año 2017 se consolida la evolución positiva del sector de los contenidos. Su cifra de negocio alcanza los 21.236 millones de euros, lo que representa un 7,6% más que el año anterior y el 19,5% de la facturación total del sector.
El número de empresas también aumenta un 0,4% y se sitúa en 9.785, al igual que el empleo, que sube un 1,7% en 2017 hasta alcanzar los 105.760 puestos de trabajo.
Sin embargo, el indicador que experimenta un mayor crecimiento es el de la inversión realizada por las empresas, que aumenta un 12,8% en 2017 y se sitúa en 3.072 millones de euros.
Aunque las diferentes ramas de actividad del sector de los contenidos –a excepción de la de publicaciones (-3,2%)- experimentan aumentos en su volumen de negocio, las que más contribuyen al crecimiento de la cifra de negocio del sector son programación y emisión de televisión y radio (17,5%), otros servicios de información (15,9%), videojuegos (15,6%) y música y sonido (13,1%).
Las empresas que pertenecen al sector TIC son aquellas que dedican sus actividades principales a la fabricación y a la prestación de servicios TIC, entre estos últimos se encuentran el comercio al por mayor, las actividades informáticas y las telecomunicaciones.
Por su parte, las ramas de actividad que forman el sector de los contenidos en España son publicaciones, audiovisual (radio y televisión), cine y video y programas de televisión, sonido y música, videojuegos, publicidad online y otros servicios de información.
