El Observatorio Nacional de las Telecomunicaciones y Sociedad de la Información (ONTSI), que gestiona la entidad pública Red.es, acaba de publicar el “Estudio sobre la Ciberseguridad y confianza en los hogares españoles”, correspondiente al primer semestre de 2018, en el que se contrasta el nivel real de incidentes que sufren los equipos y dispositivos móviles de los usuarios – a través del software Pinkerton- con las percepciones que éstos tienen, y se muestra la evolución temporal de estos indicadores.
El informe revela que, a pesar de los incidentes de seguridad sufridos, la confianza depositada por el usuario en Internet continúa recuperándose: el 43,1% de los usuarios encuestados confía bastante o mucho en Internet (+ 3,2 p.p. respecto al primer semestre de 2017) y un 46,4% lo percibe como más seguro cada día.
En cuanto al análisis de dispositivos móviles con sistema operativo Android (smartphone y tablet), por primera vez desde 2016 se frena la tendencia a la baja en el uso de antivirus como medida de seguridad, aunque frente al 55% de usuarios que declara utilizarlo el informe revela que en realidad lo utiliza el 50%.
No obstante, la principal diferencia entre el dato declarado sobre medidas de seguridad y el real se encuentra en la utilización habitual con permisos reducidos (no “root”), con un 92,3% de uso real, aunque únicamente un tercio (33,4%) de los usuarios es consciente de hacerlo.
Otra gran brecha entre la realidad y las opiniones de los usuarios se observa en los sistemas de desbloqueo segurodel dispositivo: el 80,9% de los usuarios con dispositivos Android afirma utilizarlo, mientras que el valor obtenido por Pinkerton revela que únicamente el 32,8% tiene un sistema de desbloqueo seguro en sus dispositivos.
Por otro lado, se produce un cambio en la versión Android más utilizada de manera que Android 7 (37,8%) desbanca a Android 6 (24,6%) en la primera posición. Además, en relación al segundo semestre de 2017, se produce un considerable incremento de 8,6 p.p. en el empleo de Android 8 que utiliza el 9,2% de los usuarios.
Seguridad en el ordenador del hogar
En lo que se refiere a las medidas de seguridad empleadas en el ordenador del hogar, se observa un receso en la utilización de programas antivirus (-2,5 p.p.) y actualizaciones del sistema operativo (-2,7 p.p.), volviendo a valores similares a los registrados durante el primer semestre de 2017 y situándose en el 71,1% y el 56,7%, respectivamente.
De las encuestas realizadas a los hogares españoles y los datos obtenidos por Pinkerton también se desprende que hay discordancia entre el uso declarado y el real de medidas de seguridad, siendo el dato favorable a la utilización real. Al igual que ocurría en los dispositivos móviles, la mayor brecha se encuentra en la utilización habitual con permisos reducidos donde el 95,1% de los usuarios navega por Internet de este modo y solo el 11,5% es consciente de ello. También hay diferencias significativas entre el uso real (95,7%) y el declarado (36,9%) de cortafuegos o firewall y en la existencia de particiones en el disco duro, con un 60,2% de uso real frente al 17,3% del declarado.
El estudio también aporta datos sobre las redes Wi-Fi. Casi la mitad -49,5%- usa estándares WPA y WPA2, aunque el 23,2% no son seguras, ya que un 5,6% utiliza cifrado WEP —obsoleto y fácilmente vulnerable-, un 5,3% de los usuarios deja su red inalámbrica Wi-Fi desprotegida y el 12,3% desconoce su estado de protección.
Hábitos de comportamiento en navegación y usos de Internet
Durante los primeros meses de 2018, los niveles de adopción de conductas de riesgo de manera consciente por parte del usuario se mantienen constantes con respecto al semestre anterior, el 42,8% de los internautas manifiesta realizar acciones de riesgo.
El informe analiza los hábitos prudentes relacionados con la navegación, descargas desde Internet e instalación de programas y aplicaciones para determinar si también los usuarios adoptan riesgos en estas acciones.
En este sentido, los buenos hábitos de uso en las redes P2P se sitúan en valores constantes con respecto al anterior periodo analizado: el análisis con el antivirus de todos los ficheros descargados se establece en el 60,7% y el 69,1% no comparte todos los archivos del equipo. Los hábitos referentes a la descarga directa de ficheros también parecen mantenerse en consonancia con respecto al anterior estudio: el 52,7% comprueba la veracidad del contenido descargado y el 46,4% analiza el fichero o dispositivo al finalizar la descarga.
En lo que se refiere a la descarga de programas en el ordenador, ocho de cada diez usuarios (81,7%) presta atención a los pasos de instalación del software descargado y dos de cada tres (66,1%) comprueba minuciosamente que se trata del programa que se desea instalar.
Sin embargo, más de la mitad (56,8%) de los internautas españoles afirma no leer las condiciones e información legal antes de aceptarlas al registrarse o darse de alta en proveedores de servicio en Internet (redes sociales, comercio electrónico, etc.).
Según las declaraciones de los usuarios de dispositivos Android, el 92,1% realiza la descarga de aplicaciones principalmente desde repositorios oficiales. Sin embargo, el dato real recopilado por Pinkerton revela un incremento de casi 10 p.p. (hasta el 39,5%) de dispositivos Android en los que los usuarios han modificado la configuración por defecto para permitir la instalación de aplicaciones desde fuentes desconocidas.
Los usuarios de los servicios de banca y/o comercio a través de Internet mantienen buenos hábitos de comportamiento en general, cerrando la sesión al terminar la operación (90,3%), vigilando periódicamente los movimientos de la cuenta bancaria online (92,5%) o evitando el uso de equipos públicos o compartidos (86,3%), entre otros. La tarjeta prepago o monedero es la medida menos utilizada entre estos usuarios (42,4%), aunque experimenta un crecimiento de 1,9 p.p. en relación al semestre anterior.
El 63,7% de los usuarios de redes sociales configura su perfil para que solo sea accesible por sus amigos y contactos. Sin embargo, el 31,2% expone los datos publicados en su perfil a terceras personas y/o desconocidos, e incluso un 5,1% de los consultados declara desconocer el nivel de privacidad de su perfil.
Por su parte, un tercio de los internautas que se conectan a una red inalámbrica Wi-Fi pública o de un particular, lo hace siempre que lo necesitan y en cualquier lugar.
