La llegada definitiva de GDPR ha supuesto un gran quebradero de cabeza para la mayoría de organizaciones. Una de las tecnologías que se ha revelado con un gran potencial para ayudar a las organizaciones a cumplir con las normas de GDPR es blockchain. La tecnología de contabilidad distribuida electrónica puede crear un registro inmutable para registrar un historial de transacciones. Debido a que los datos son permanentes, usar blockchain como tipo de base de datos para realizar transacciones con PII podría entrar en conflicto con las reglas de GDPR. Pero, cuando los datos PII se almacenan por separado de la red blockchain sobre la que se tramitan, la tecnología se convierte en parte de la solución para el cumplimiento de GDPR.
Con GDPR ya en vigencia, las FinTechs son conscientes de que las infracciones de datos tendrán mayores consecuencias que nunca, y deben mantener el consentimiento del cliente al frente de sus estrategias y campañas de marketing. Hablamos de infracciones que suponen hasta el 4% de los ingresos totales, o 20 millones de euros.
Según el informe de Juniper Research, las Fintench se beneficiarán en los próximos cinco años de tres tecnologías que se espera que amplíen la utilidad de big data, ofrezcan aplicaciones más seguras y aumenten el rendimiento computacional: extracción de datos, aplicaciones descentralizadas (Dapps) y computación cuántica.
“A la hora de recolectar datos, GDPR ofrece la oportunidad de hacerlo con un enfoque mucho más positivo y abierto a los datos del consumidor sin traicionar la confianza de los usuario”, dijo Lauren Foye, analista senior de Juniper. «Tal enfoque, que combina la transparencia y la honestidad, será bien recibido, por lo que las empresas deberían tratar de priorizar esto, los que no lo hagan se enfrentarán a una reacción negativa del cliente».
La segunda tecnología en el próximo año será una expansión significativa en el despliegue de aplicaciones descentralizadas, como Dapps, dice el informe de Juniper. Utilizando blockchain como su base, Dapps crea un ecosistema de software de código abierto innovador, seguro y fácil, en el que desarrollar nuevas herramientas en línea.
«Dapps reunirá recursos en numerosas máquinas a nivel mundial, aprovechando el poder de miles de ordenadores inactivos», dijo Foye. «Los resultados son aplicaciones que no pertenecen a una sola entidad, sino más bien son impulsadas por la comunidad».
Dapps se distribuyen a través de muchos nodos, lo que los hace extremadamente tolerantes a los fallos y, a la vez, transparentes para los usuarios, ya que la descentralización hará que la piratería y el fraude sean menos frecuentes porque los datos almacenados en el blockchain no se pueden modificar y modificar en una fecha posterior.
«Creemos que estas características llevarán a numerosos actores financieros y terceros a buscar utilizar esta tecnología para las prácticas donde la seguridad es primordial», afirmó el informe de Juniper.
El informe de Juniper asegura que 2018 verá la supremacía cuántica, una computadora cuántica que puede llevar a cabo tareas que no son posibles o prácticas con una computadora tradicional. La computación cuántica tiene la promesa de resolver rápidamente algoritmos complejos, redefiniendo áreas como FinTech, logística e investigación y desarrollo.
«Como resultado, la computación cuántica tiene la capacidad de resolver problemas mucho más complejos que las computadoras binarias actuales, con qubits capaces de estar en un estado de 1, 0 o incluso ambos», explicó Juniper en su informe. «Esto se conoce como ‘superposición’ y significa que las computadoras cuánticas son millones de veces más poderosas que las máquinas binarias y tienen el potencial de afectar e interrumpir los procesos en todas las industrias».
