El crecimiento del negocio encabeza la lista de las principales prioridades del CEO de cara a 2018 y 2019, de acuerdo con una reciente encuesta elaborada por Gartner. Sin embargo, la encuesta también revela que, debido a que este objetivo se vuelve cada vez más complicado de alcanzar, los CEO se están concentrando en cambiar y mejorar la estructura de sus empresas, incluyendo una comprensión más profunda del negocio digital.
«Aunque el crecimiento sigue siendo la mayor prioridad del CEO, se ha producido una bajada de menciones por parte de estos directivos, desde el 58% de 2017 a solo el 40% en 2018; esto no significa que los CEO estén menos centrados en el crecimiento, sino que muestran que están cambiando de perspectiva sobre cómo obtenerlo», apunta Mark Raskino, vicepresidente de Gartner. «La categoría ‘corporativa’, que incluye nueva estrategia, alianzas corporativas y fusiones y adquisiciones, ha aumentado significativamente para convertirse en la segunda mayor prioridad», afirma Raskino.

Sigue siendo una alta prioridad, en tercera posición, la transformación digital, mientras que prestar más atención a la fuerza de trabajo ha aumentado rápidamente este año para convertirse en la cuarta prioridad, en lugar de la séptima en 2017; el número de ejecutivos que mencionan workforce entre sus tres primeras prioridades aumentó del 16 al 28%.
Cuando se les preguntó acerca de las limitaciones internas más significativas para el crecimiento, los empleados y los problemas de talento estaban en la cima. Los CEO dijeron que la falta de talento y capacidad de mano de obra es el mayor inhibidor del progreso empresarial digital.

Necesidad del cambio cultural
El cambio cultural es un aspecto clave de la transformación digital. La encuesta de CIO de Gartner de 2018 encuentra que los CIO acuerdan que es una preocupación de muy alta prioridad, pero solo el 37% afirma que un cambio cultural significativo es necesario para 2020. Sin embargo, cuando las empresas tienen una iniciativa digital en marcha, la proporción que necesita el cambio cultural aumenta al 42%.
«Estos resultados de la encuesta demuestran que si una empresa tiene una iniciativa digital, entonces la reconocida necesidad de cambio cultural es mayor», remarca Raskino. «El tipo de cambio cultural más importante para el CEO es que la cultura sea más proactiva, colaborativa, innovadora, empoderada y centrada en el cliente, también llaman a una cultura más digital y tech-céntrica».
