La adopción de la nube se ha vuelto fundamental para las empresas a nivel mundial. Actualmente, el 98% de las compañías se encuentra en proceso de migración a la nube, a pesar de que retienen el 75% (tres de cada cuatro) de sus cargas de trabajo en entornos físicos locales.
Estos datos resaltan la importancia de desarrollar un enfoque unificado para arquitecturas híbridas multinube, así como la necesidad de innovación tanto en almacenamiento all-flash interno como en soluciones de nube pública. Dos mejoras cruciales para facilitar la adopción generalizada de tecnologías avanzadas, como la inteligencia artificial. Estas son las principales conclusiones del Informe sobre la Complejidad de Datos 2023 de NetApp, que analiza las crecientes demandas empresariales en relación con el almacenamiento unificado de datos.
«Las compañías se enfrentan a un complicado entorno tecnológico lleno de riesgos de seguridad. Se sienten presionadas para mantenerse al día con las tecnologías emergentes, como la IA, pero al mismo tiempo buscan reducir su impacto en el medio ambiente», explica Jose Petisco, Director General de España y Portugal en NetApp.
La adopción de la nube no ha seguido un proceso lineal para muchas empresas. Aunque algunas planean trasladar sus cargas de trabajo a la nube, tres de cada cuatro aún mantienen la mayoría de estas cargas almacenadas localmente. La motivación principal para migrar a la nube es la adopción de la inteligencia artificial (IA).
El 74% de los participantes encuestados utilizan servicios de nube pública para actividades relacionadas con la IA y el análisis, ya que la IA desempeña un papel fundamental como habilitador de esta tecnología. A nivel global, el 39% de los ejecutivos de tecnología identifican la optimización del rendimiento, costos y eficiencia de la IA como su principal necesidad. Por su parte, el 72% de los participantes ya están utilizando la IA generativa, pero su implementación enfrenta desafíos, siendo la seguridad de datos (57%), la integración de datos (50%) y la escasez de talento (45%) los obstáculos más significativos, según el informe.
En cuanto a la financiación de la IA, el 63% de los presupuestos provienen de nuevos fondos en lugar de ser reasignados de otras áreas. Además, el 65% de los directores y responsables de tecnología planean contratar nuevos proveedores a medida que aumenta el uso de la IA en su infraestructura.
En la era de la inteligencia artificial, la seguridad sigue siendo una gran preocupación para los ejecutivos y tomadores de decisiones en tecnología de la información. Según un informe de NetApp, el 87% de los altos ejecutivos y miembros de juntas directivas consideran el ransomware como una prioridad alta o máxima, siendo el 55% de ellos quienes lo identifican como la mayor amenaza para sus empresas.
La seguridad y la privacidad de los datos, clasificadas por el 40% de los encuestados como las principales causas de complejidad en la infraestructura de almacenamiento, son preocupaciones fundamentales. Además, el 48% de los participantes prevé que les llevaría días o semanas recuperarse de un ciberataque, representando un riesgo potencialmente negativo para sus negocios.
«Los ciberataques están aumentando y los directivos reconocen la necesidad de protegerse contra estos ataques. Necesitan estar preparados para recuperarse de un posible ataque de ransomware», explica Petisco. «Si bien la protección contra el ransomware requiere una arquitectura completa y resistente, los profesionales piden, cada vez más, que los proveedores de almacenamiento les ofrezcan garantías para la recuperación de datos después de un ataque de ransomware».
Reducir el impacto medioambiental ya no es una opción: ahora supone un factor esencial en las decisiones tecnológicas de las empresas. De acuerdo con el informe, el 83% de los participantes señaló la sostenibilidad como un aspecto determinante al elegir proveedores de almacenamiento.
Además, la mitad reconoce que disminuir el consumo de energía y la huella de carbono es esencial para conseguir una IA responsable. Asimismo, el 84% está de acuerdo en que reducir la huella de carbono de su compañía es otro de sus principales objetivos.
La inteligencia artificial está dejando su huella en las decisiones de compra y las expectativas de innovación empresarial. Según el mismo estudio, el 39% de los participantes buscan soluciones de almacenamiento flash que mejoren el rendimiento de esta tecnología.
La seguridad y la privacidad de los datos también ocupan un lugar destacado en las preocupaciones relacionadas con el almacenamiento. Un 61% de profesionales de tecnología han identificado la seguridad de los datos y la privacidad como áreas críticas donde esperan ver avances significativos en los próximos tres años.
Además, la sostenibilidad ha emergido como un área esencial para la innovación. Existe una creciente demanda de hardware y software más eficientes en energía, acompañada de recomendaciones automatizadas para reducir tanto el consumo de energía como las emisiones de CO2.
