Las smart cities generarán un volumen de negocio de 272.910 millones de euros en 2032
El Internet de las Cosas (IoT, en sus siglas en inglés) está revolucionando la forma en que las ciudades se desarrollan. Según un estudio de Guidehouse Insights, la necesidad de lograr una gestión eficiente en la utilización de recursos y la seguridad pública será una de las palancas del proceso de digitalización de las concentraciones urbanas. Gracias a la conectividad LPWAN/4G/5G y a las tarjetas SIM integradas en los dispositivos, los gobiernos municipales y las autoridades locales pueden mejorar la eficiencia y función de los servicios públicos, generando un impacto directo en la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos.
Con el objetivo de avanzar hacia ciudades más inteligentes y sostenibles, el IoT desempeña un papel fundamental a la hora de conectar diferentes dispositivos urbanos a través de internet, mejorando la eficiencia, la productividad y la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos. A través de la conectividad inalámbrica, las ciudades pueden mejorar en aspectos como la seguridad vial o movilidad, con sensores de estacionamiento en carreteras, el ajuste del alumbrado público y los semáforos según la presencia de personas y de tráfico, o el despliegue de soluciones de movilidad sostenible, enumeran desde Wireless Logic.
Esta digitalización urbana, impulsada por el IoT, consigue que los gobiernos municipales y las autoridades locales mejoren la eficiencia y funciones de los servicios públicos. Esto genera un impacto directo en la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos, gracias a la reducción del tiempo de viaje, el acceso a servicios públicos mejorados y la mejora de la seguridad ciudadana, entre otros beneficios.
Por otra parte, la seguridad de los datos es una prioridad en cada aplicación, especialmente en una smart city, donde el acceso no autorizado pueden tener consecuencias directas en la actividad normal de la ciudad. Hay que tener en cuenta que una mayor cantidad de dispositivos y sistemas conectados implica una mayor superficie de ataque.
