La nube, pronostica la firma de análisis e investigación Gartner, impulsará la transformación digital de las empresas a través de diferentes tecnologías emergentes como la IA generativa.
La nube pública continúa en boga. Así se desprende de las últimas previsiones avanzadas por la firma de análisis e investigación Gartner. En concreto, se prevé que el gasto mundial de los usuarios finales en lo relativo a servicios de nube pública crezca un 21,7% hasta alcanzar los 597.300 millones de dólares en 2023. Una cifra que supera significativamente los 491.000 millones registrados en 2022. Y es que la computación en la nube, apunta la consultora tecnológica, está impulsando la próxima fase del negocio digital, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que las organizaciones modernas persiguen la disrupción mediante tecnologías emergentes como la inteligencia artificial generativa (IA), la Web3 o el metaverso.
En este sentido, Sid Nag, vicepresidente analista de la firma asegura que son los propios proveedores de nube a hiperescala quienes están impulsando la agenda cloud. “Hoy en día las organizaciones ven la nube como una plataforma altamente estratégica para la transformación digital, lo que está requiriendo que los proveedores de nube ofrezcan capacidades más sofisticadas a medida que la competencia por los servicios digitales gana músculo”. Por ejemplo, apunta, la IA generativa se apoya en grandes modelos de lenguaje (LLM) que requieren capacidades de computación potentes y altamente escalables para procesar datos en tiempo real. La nube ofrece, por tanto, “la solución y la plataforma perfectas. No es casualidad que los actores clave en la carrera por la IA generativa sean hiperescaladores de nube”.
La tendencia, tal y como refrenda Gartner, será al alza. De hecho, se espera que todos los segmentos del mercado en la nube experimenten un crecimiento durante el presente 2023. Será la infraestructura como servicio (IaaS) el segmento que registre una mayor inversión por parte de los usuarios finales a lo largo del ejercicio, con un 30,9%. Le sigue la plataforma como servicio (PaaS) con un 24,1%. Como consecuencia, de cara al próximo trienio, se espera que el 75% de las organizaciones opten por adoptar un modelo de transformación digital basado en la nube como plataforma subyacente fundamental.
«La próxima fase de crecimiento de IaaS estará impulsada por la experiencia del cliente, los resultados digitales y empresariales y el mundo virtual-first«, defiende Nag. «Las tecnologías emergentes que ayudan a las empresas a interactuar más estrechamente y en tiempo real con sus clientes, como los chatbots y los gemelos digitales, dependen de la infraestructura en la nube y los servicios de plataforma para satisfacer las crecientes demandas de potencia de cálculo y almacenamiento”.
Mientras que los servicios de infraestructura y plataforma en la nube están impulsando el mayor crecimiento del gasto, SaaS sigue siendo el mayor segmento del mercado de la nube por gasto de usuario final. Se prevé que el gasto en SaaS crezca un 17,9% hasta alcanzar un total de 197.000 millones de dólares en 2023. «El sustrato tecnológico del cloud computing está firmemente dominado por los hiperescaladores, pero el liderazgo de la capa de aplicaciones empresariales está más fragmentado», afirma Nag. «Los proveedores se enfrentan a la exigencia de rediseñar las ofertas SaaS para aumentar la productividad, aprovechando las capacidades nativas de la nube, la IA integrada y la componibilidad, sobre todo porque los presupuestos están cada vez más dirigidos y son propiedad de los tecnólogos empresariales. Este cambio desatará una ola de innovación y sustitución en los mercados de plataformas y aplicaciones en la nube”.
