Qué es y cómo funciona la automatización robótica de procesos?
RPA o Automatización Robótica de Procesos se basa en robots de software que se ocupan de las tareas sencillas, repetitivas, para dejar a los empleados más tiempo para realizar tareas productivas y de valor añadido.
La RPA se integra de manera sincronizada con la estrategia de automatización de la gestión de procesos empresariales (BPM) y se espera que se convierta en un componente fundamental de la hiperautomatización. Consiste en combinar la IA, machine learning y big data para conocer los procesos existentes, la RPA los monitoriza e interactúa con las plataformas del sistema para su implantación.

La automatización robótica de los procesos (RPA) consiste en el uso de robots de software que automatizan tareas repetitivas de las que suelen encargarse las personas. No son robots físicos ni robots de IA. Estos robots se apoyan en herramientas de inteligencia artificial y se comunican con los sistemas de la empresa para agilizar los procesos, de tal forma que realizan tareas rutinarias que reducen la carga de trabajo de las personas.
La robotización de procesos busca automatizar tareas laborales con la colaboración de robots y agilizar actividades que son repetitivas, rutinarias o que requieren de mucho esfuerzo. Los robots y la tecnología que los acompaña actúan como un apoyo al trabajo, bien realizando tareas básicas o acompañando mediante el uso de la IA en procesos complejos.
La inteligencia artificial y RPA tienen mucho en común. Cuando se combinan ambas tecnologías, dan como resultado una automatización inteligente que permite procesos rápidos de extremo a extremo. Los robots de software de la RPA pueden asemejarse a los de la IA, pero en conjunto lo que se busca es integrar más funciones de la inteligencia artificial a la automatización robótica, ya que de momento la mayoría de estos bots no tienen las cualidades de la IA relacionadas con la capacidad de aprender con el tiempo. En cambio, los bots de RPA están preparados para seguir una serie de tareas repetitivas y basadas en reglas y, por lo general, no aprenden sobre la marcha.

En cambio, los programas de automatización tradicionales se diseñaron para integrar las aplicaciones de los usuarios con los sistemas backend de las organizaciones y poder realizar de forma autónoma tareas predefinidas. La automatización tradicional solo puede ejecutar tareas según los procedimientos almacenados porque no son lo suficientemente inteligentes para adaptarse o aprender en el trabajo.
La automatización robótica de procesos está siendo implementada en cualquier industria y en todos los departamentos de una organización, sin que dependa de la actividad del negocio. Así, las herramientas de automatización están permitiendo a empresas y organizaciones de todo tipo transformar procesos en días.
Como herramientas representativas del mundo RPA sobresalen ‘Berenjena de Keysight’, que ofrece soluciones de automatización de procesos robóticos para automatizar la ejecución de tareas repetitivas; ‘Rapise’, es principalmente un sistema de automatización de pruebas que se especializa en probar aplicaciones complejas como MS Dynamics, Salesforce, SAP; ‘Prisma azul’, que puede funcionar en cualquier plataforma con cualquier aplicación, aunque para usar esta herramienta hay que tener habilidades de programación; ‘UiPath’, con soporte para Citrix y fácil de usar para los que no son desarrolladores; y ‘Automation Anywhere’, con las capacidades básicas y servicios, tanto locales como en la nube.
Las ventajas de RPA son evidentes, al ganar eficiencia toda vez que puede completar tareas más rápido que los humanos y a un coste menor, permitir a los empleados centrarse en operaciones de mayor valor, mejorar la satisfacción del cliente, reducir errores, manejar grandes volúmenes de datos y por su capacidad de aprendizaje.
La RPA supervisada se define como una colaboración entre bots y humanos. Los bots de RPA supervisada son como asistentes virtuales: ayudan a un empleado individual con su tarea para aumentar la productividad. Los bots de RPA supervisada están preparados y esperando a que los empleados los activen cuando los necesiten.
Una RPA no supervisada se ejecuta de manera independiente, siguen un proceso basado en reglas hasta finalizarlo. En este caso, los bots ejecutan la automatización, que funciona por sí sola. El objetivo de muchos procesos empresariales es la automatización integral, donde se habilita a los bots para que ejecuten procesos completos de manera independiente.
La automatización y la robótica industrial son claves en el avance de la industria 4.0 y se introduce en sectores tan dispares como la Banca para el cumplimiento normativo y detección de fraudes; Salud, en el protocolo de facturación; Telecomunicaciones, para la automatización del servicio al cliente; o Fabricación, en la simplificación del cumplimiento de pedidos.
