Un estudio de Crayon indica que el 37% de los directivos carece de los conocimientos necesarios para optimizar su gasto en la nube.
Una gran parte de las organizaciones no consigue gestionar adecuadamente los costes de sus activos tecnológicos. Es así que no son capaces de rentabilizar sus soluciones tecnológicas, de negociar con proveedores para acceder a las mejores ofertas, de comprar solo lo que realmente necesitan y de conseguir que la tecnología aporte un verdadero valor al negocio.
En estos momentos, un 54% de los responsables de tecnología a nivel global (59% en España) considera que la optimización de los costes IT es su mayor reto a la hora de gestionar sus activos tecnológicos; muy por encima de otros desafíos, como la adquisición de conocimientos sobre tendencias como el cloud o la inteligencia artificial (39% en el mundo y en España) o como la implantación y migración a la nube (34% en el mundo y 32% en España).

Esa es una de las principales conclusiones que se desprende del estudio ‘Cómo controlar los nuevos costes IT’, llevado a cabo por Sapio Research para Crayon, en el que se recogen las opiniones de 2.050 responsables de decisión de compañías de 19 países de todo el mundo sobre distintos aspectos relacionados con el uso y compra de activos IT en sus organizaciones.
Según el estudio de Crayon, la situación de muchas empresas no es la más adecuada al hablar de optimización de costes de IT. La realidad es que muchas organizaciones no conocen con exactitud cuánto gastan en hardware y software (46% a nivel global y 52% en España) y solo el 36% de los responsables IT a nivel global (31% en España) declara tener una visibilidad y control totales sobre las licencias de software no utilizadas. Asimismo, más de un tercio de los encuestados, tanto a nivel global como en España, (37%) dice carecer de los conocimientos necesarios para optimizar su gasto en la nube, y otro tercio aduce falta de tiempo para poder obtener las mejores ofertas cuando negocia con los diferentes proveedores tecnológicos.

La falta de una visión global y, como consecuencia, de control sobre los costes IT se debe, sobre todo, a la velocidad a la hora de desarrollar y, en ocasiones, al despliegue desordenado de nuevas soluciones tecnológicas, especialmente de aplicaciones de software como servicio (SaaS). Asimismo, en un entorno tecnológico cada vez más complejo, las empresas carecen del tiempo y los conocimientos necesarios para optimizar sus infraestructuras, estructuras de licenciamiento, relaciones con proveedores IT, etc. Finalmente, la alta rotación de consultores IT o la falta de personal disponible también es un factor que dificulta implantar un control estratégico sobre los costes IT.
A pesar de esta realidad, los directivos son conscientes del problema. Así, un 91% considera la optimización de su estructura de costes como una prioridad de su empresa (94% en España); un 93% piensa que tiene margen para optimizar sus costes IT (90% en España), y un 17% (12% en España) dice que necesita revisar por completo su infraestructura de costes. Además, un 52% de los profesionales preguntados dice que sus empresas ya han establecido algún tipo de proceso y protocolo para controlar mejor las licencias de software que no se utilizan.

Ante el reto de recuperar el control de sus tecnologías y de sus gastos IT, muchas organizaciones están optando por buscar el apoyo de un partner especializado en la gestión de activos IT. No en vano, el 90% de los directivos encuestados (89% en España) reconoce que su empresa se beneficiaría de la colaboración con un partner externo que le ayudase a desglosar costes e identificar áreas de optimización.
Así, los encuestados en el informe de Crayon que han buscado a un partner para negociar con los diferentes proveedores tecnológicos dicen que han podido ahorrar, de media, un 24% (18% en España) en el coste de sus licencias.
Por otra parte, el intercambio de conocimientos sobre la optimización de los gastos cloud es el área en la que los consultores externos ayudan más a sus clientes en la tarea de optimización de costes (42% a nivel global y 46% en España). Un 38% dice que ha trabajado con partners externos para conocer claramente las necesidades de la empresa y obtener visibilidad del gasto global de la misma.
