El72% cree que sus empresas deben mejorar sus infraestructuras en los próximos dos años para poder obtener información más valiosa, según un estudio de Interxion.
La inversión es el principal freno para trazar estrategias efectivas de datos y afrontar el rápido crecimiento del volumen de información en todo el globo. Así lo atestigua un informe de Digital Realty, empresa matriz de Interxion, que ha sido presentado hoy en rueda de prensa de la mano de Robert Assink, director general de la filial en España. Asimismo, la mitad de los encuestados, pertenecientes a más de 7.000 empresas de 27 países y nueve sectores distintos, considera también que el gasto en herramientas de análisis no es suficiente. “Los datos pueden desbloquear el valor de las empresas”, ha comentado el directivo a tenor de estos resultados. “Estamos asistiendo a una explosión en volumen, velocidad y valor, lo que representa retos de negocio que pasan por la gestión y la medición de éstos para tomar decisiones estratégicas”.
De hecho, el 72% cree que sus empresas deben mejorar sus infraestructuras en los próximos dos años para poder obtener información más valiosa. Además, considera que hay otras barreras sustanciales como la reticencia de los clientes a compartir datos y la legislación que, sobre todo en Europa es más restrictiva. A nivel local, las compañías españolas estiman que sí existe una adecuación significativa con respecto a la normativa vigente y que hay capacidades para mapear los silos de datos. Aunque, en comparación con el resto de países comunitarios, tal y como ha puesto de manifiesto Assink, hay cierto retraso de madurez; la geografía se encuentra en aras de completar este nivel mientras que muchos otros países ya están en una fase de compartición de datos dentro de las organizaciones.
Del marco de las conclusiones, queda patente que los datos son omnipresentes. Más de la mitad de las compañías preguntadas con más de 1.500 millones de dólares de facturación anual tienen los datos descentralizados porque hay menos costes asociados y están más cerca de sus clientes. Asimismo, el 70% estudia desplegar hubs de datos en múltiples lugares en el próximo bienio con el fin de impulsar el análisis de la información, su intercambio y la gobernanza. Por último, ha comentado Assink, se están imponiendo las estrategias data first con centros de datos interconectados para facilitar la integración de los sistemas de TI entre la nube, el extremo y sus ecosistemas de clientes y socios. Los sectores más avanzados en estas prácticas son, según el informe, los de medios de comunicación, finanzas y seguros.
Durante el encuentro, Assink se ha referido al desembarco del grupo inmobiliario estadounidense, Thor Equities, en Madrid. Este tiene la pretensión de construir el centro de datos más importante de España con un espacio de 200.000 metros cuadrados y hasta 20 megavatios (MW) de capacidad. La inversión del grupo, que pretende entrar en esta industria para “crear una cartera de gran alcance en Europa”, superará los 600 millones de dólares. “Es un proyecto muy ambicioso”, ha indicado el director general de Interxion en España. “La competencia siempre es bienvenida y este mercado puede abarcar a muchos jugadores”, en referencia al protagonismo que está adquiriendo Madrid como eje de interconexión del Sur de Europa. “Nosotros dijimos, y apostamos, en 2018 que la capital sería el hub más importante del continente, pero nuestras expectativas se han quedado cortas y el volumen de inversiones reafirma el concepto de Madrid Digital”, ha concluido.
