Vodafone y Deloitte presentan un informe en el que analizan los desafíos que tienen las empresas para cumplir con los objetivos previstos por la Comisión Europea.
La proporción de empresas que utilizan tecnología cloud debe aumentar en más de 53 puntos porcentuales para cumplir el objetivo previsto por la Comisión Europea en la Década Digital 2030. Así se desprende del informe ‘El progreso hacia el objetivo de la Década Digital de la Unión Europea’, elaborado por Deloitte para Vodafone.
El estudio, que marca objetivos clave para las distintas áreas digitales hasta 2030, proporciona una visión de cómo debe ser el camino de la UE para su transformación digital, a la vez que actúa como un medidor crítico para que Europa mantenga su competitividad global en un mundo que cambia constantemente.
Según el informe, el 22% de las empresas españolas utiliza actualmente servicios de cloud computing, una cifra que se sitúa 53 puntos porcentuales por debajo del objetivo del 75% marcado para 2030. Los servicios de cloud son una herramienta fundamental en las empresas, ya que aumentan la seguridad de los datos, impulsan la eficiencia, aportan información y reducen los costes para las compañías. En definitiva, los servicios cloud impulsan el desarrollo de la competitividad digital de Europa.
El estudio también pone de manifiesto que los hogares europeos tampoco alcanzan los objetivos previstos para 2030. En conjunto, la proporción de hogares cubiertos con red fija de muy alta capacidad (VHCN) en España se incrementó 3 puntos porcentuales en 2021 en comparación con 2020, lo que significa que todavía existe una brecha de 8 puntos porcentuales para alcanzar los objetivos de la Década Digital en este apartado. Alcanzar ese logro podría resultar un desafío para la mayoría de los Estados miembros debido a los elevados costes y a las dificultades operativas que plantea el despliegue de estas redes en zonas remotas. España, en este caso, es el país con mayor cobertura de redes de muy alta capacidad de los 12 incluidos en el informe, alcanzando el 92%.
La falta de especialistas en TIC también está impidiendo el avance hacia los objetivos de la Década Digital, poniendo en peligro la capacidad de Europa para escalar las tecnologías necesarias para liderar globalmente. En los 27 países que conforman la Unión Europa, el número de especialistas en TIC asciende actualmente a 8,43 millones. A pesar de que esta cifra ha aumentado sobre todo en Alemania, Irlanda y Hungría en 2021, el conjunto de la UE debe, al menos, duplicar el número de especialistas en esta materia para alcanzar el objetivo de 20 millones establecido en la Década Digital.
En España, el número de especialistas en TIC debe aumentar en más de 1,39 millones para cumplir los objetivos de la Década Digital establecidos por la Comisión Europea. Entre 2019 y 2020, el número de especialistas en tecnologías de la información y comunicación sólo ha aumentado un 2%.
En los últimos cinco años, la intensidad digital de las pymes se ha mantenido relativamente estable, con una tasa media de crecimiento anual en toda la UE -entre 2016 y 2021- de apenas el 2%. Así lo apunta el Índice de Intensidad Digital, que mide la disponibilidad de las empresas de 12 herramientas digitales diferentes, incluido el acceso a la banda ancha rápida (30 Mbps o más) y los especialistas en TIC.
De hecho, algunos de los Estados miembro están ahora más atrasados en sus objetivos que hace cinco años. En el caso de España, se aleja 1 punto porcentual de su objetivo para 2030 en 2021, en comparación con 2019. Una situación parecida a otros países como República Checa, que en 2021 se aleja 14 puntos porcentuales de su objetivo para 2030 en comparación con 2019, o cómo Portugal que se aleja en 9 puntos porcentuales, Alemania 5, Irlanda 3 y Francia 2. Sin embargo, Polonia muestra signos de progreso y está 14 puntos porcentuales más cerca de su objetivo en comparación con 2019, e Italia 11 puntos más.
David Sola, director de Regulación, Relaciones Institucionales y Fondos Europeos de Vodafone España, explica: “Es fundamental para España que las empresas, organismos e instituciones continúen la senda de la digitalización para lograr los objetivos de la Década Digital. Cada vez son más necesarios perfiles de especialistas en tecnología de la información y comunicaciones que impulsen esta transición hacia una economía y sociedad en la que empresas y ciudadanos se beneficien de mayores oportunidades digitales, cerrando las brechas existentes actualmente.”
Los Estados miembro cuyo PIB haya descendido más de lo previsto por la Comisión Europea verán incrementados los fondos y subvenciones de que disponen. Este será el caso de España y otros países como Alemania y Portugal, que podrían recibir mayores subvenciones, mientras que Irlanda, Rumanía y los Países Bajos podrían recibir menos subvenciones debido a un PIB mejor de lo previsto.
