La Real Academia Española facilitará el acceso al Diccionario de la lengua española –con cerca de 375.000 conjuntos de datos– para su uso en Microsoft 365 y sus aplicaciones de Office, el buscador Bing, sistemas embebidos y otros servicios.
La Real Academia Española (RAE) y Microsoft han anunciado un acuerdo con el objetivo de reforzar y promover un uso correcto del español en el universo digital y garantizar la unidad de un idioma con todas sus variedades que hablan alrededor de 600 millones de personas. La iniciativa se enmarca en el proyecto LEIA (acrónimo de Lengua Española e Inteligencia Artificial) y será transversal a las actuales herramientas de Microsoft y los posibles desarrollos futuros de la compañía, así como a los modelos de entrenamiento de Inteligencia Artificial que potencian el funcionamiento de sus servicios.
La RAE facilitará el acceso al Diccionario de la lengua española (con cerca de 375.000 conjuntos de datos) a Microsoft, junto a las correspondientes actualizaciones anuales (del orden de entre 1.000 y 2.000 entradas) para su uso en las aplicaciones de Microsoft 365, sistemas embebidos, el buscador Bing y todos aquellos productos orientados a mejorar la revisión ortográfica y gramatical o crear modelos de traducción y transliteración automáticas basados en tecnologías de Inteligencia Artificial. Asimismo, este material, que contempla el español de España y de los países latinoamericanos, contribuirá a entrenar las aplicaciones de inteligencia artificial de la compañía, poniendo el foco en evitar sesgos del lenguaje y en mejorar las habilidades de procesamiento del lenguaje natural (NLP, por sus siglas en inglés) para todas las soluciones de Microsoft.

A partir del siglo XVIII la RAE consiguió que sus normas fueran seguidas y se armonizaran y generalizaran los mismos usos ortográficos, gramaticales y léxicos de nuestra lengua. Ya en los siglos XIX y XX logró mantener su unidad, y ahora en el siglo XXI la Academia quiere regular el lenguaje de las máquinas, de la Inteligencia Artificial, para continuar una labor desempeñada con éxito durante más de 300 años. LEIA se puede considerar un proyecto pionero en todo el mundo”, comenta Santiago Muñoz Machado, director de la Real Academia Española y presidente de la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española.
