De acuerdo con un estudio de IBM, al dar el salto a la nube, muchas empresas hicieron uso de varias nubes diferentes que creaban complejidad y cuyas piezas se desconectaban entre sí, lo que las exponía potencialmente a importantes amenazas de seguridad.
IBM ha publicado un nuevo estudio global sobre cómo ha evolucionado la adopción de la nube por parte de las compañías a nivel mundial. El informe revela un cambio drástico de las necesidades de las empresas, ya que solo el 3% de los encuestados declaró estar utilizando una sola nube privada o pública en 2021, frente al 29% en 2019, estableciendo la nube híbrida como la arquitectura de TI dominante en el presente. En el caso de España, más de la mitad de las empresas (54%) están operando en entornos de nube híbrida, con una combinación de múltiples nubes públicas y/o múltiples nubes privadas.
El estudio global, realizado por IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) en colaboración con Oxford Economics, encuestó a casi 7.200 ejecutivos de alto nivel en 28 industrias y 47 países, de entre los que se encuentra España. Los resultados indican que el mercado de la nube ha entrado en la era híbrida y multinube y las preocupaciones sobre la dependencia de proveedores, la seguridad, el cumplimiento y la interoperabilidad siguen siendo primordiales. La complejidad de la infraestructura está creando vulnerabilidades que los ciberdelincuentes están aprovechando para perpetrar ataques. No obstante, el estudio indica que más de un tercio de los encuestados a nivel global indicó que mejorar los aspectos en ciberseguridad y reducir los riesgos no forma parte de sus mayores inversiones de negocio y de TI.
Al mismo tiempo, el 80% de los encuestados a nivel global y un 72% en España dijeron que la seguridad de los datos integrada en toda la arquitectura de la nube es importante o extremadamente importante, en la mayoría de los casos, para los proyectos digitales exitosos.
Casi el 79% de los encuestados a nivel global dijo que disponer de cargas de trabajo completamente portátiles sin dependencia del proveedor es importante o extremadamente importante para el éxito de sus iniciativas digitales. En el caso de España, un 76% así lo considera.
Por otro lado, casi el 69% de los encuestados a nivel global y un 54% en España cree que la dependencia de los proveedores cloud es un obstáculo significativo para mejorar el rendimiento empresarial en la mayoría o en todas las partes de su estado en la nube.
El estudio refleja también que existe casi un 70% de los encuestados de sectores de servicios gubernamentales y financieros que citaron el cumplimiento normativo relacionado con la industria como un obstáculo para el rendimiento comercial de su patrimonio en la nube. En España, la adopción de la nube pública está evolucionando hacia nubes especializadas, capaces de aumentar los niveles de cumplimiento y protección de datos. En este aspecto, el cumplimiento normativo relacionado con la industria es un obstáculo significativo para el 56% de los encuestados en España.
El estudio también destaca que las empresas necesitan evaluar cómo usan la nube en términos de adopción, velocidad, migración y oportunidad de ahorro de costes. Otras recomendaciones incluyen:
Los encuestados en industrias reguladas, como las relacionadas con el gobierno (85%) y los servicios financieros (80%), citaron que las herramientas de gobernanza y cumplimiento que pueden ejecutarse en múltiples nubes son importantes para el éxito de sus iniciativas digitales.
Además, solo el 1 % de los encuestados en las industrias de electrónica, seguros, manufacturas, telecomunicaciones, transporte y viajes, dijeron haber estado utilizando una sola nube privada o pública en 2021.
