Un año después de que se iniciara la crisis, empresas, administraciones públicas y ciudadanos se encuentran adaptándose a la llamada ‘nueva normalidad’; una era digital marcada por el auge del teletrabajo, la nube y los nuevos modelos de negocio. Hacer una reflexión pausada y paliar las brechas que se han generado son la clave para asegurar el futuro de esta nueva revolución tecnológica.
A ritmo constante de vacunación, los más optimistas ya otean el punto y final de una pandemia, la de la COVID-19, que ha firmado la época más negra de la historia reciente global. Pero ese anhelo, el de cumplir con el manido dicho de “vencer la batalla al virus”, no esconde la realidad de que todas las sociedades han cambiado, probablemente para siempre y de manera radical. Seguramente, el legado de esta crisis será la culminación de la llamada Cuarta Revolución Industrial, a la que ciudadanos, empresas y administraciones públicas se encaminan bajo el gobierno de ‘lo digital’. Un gobierno que marca una nueva era tecnológica, económica, legislativa y social. Buen síntoma de ello es el auge del teletrabajo,que ha desencadenado un ‘efecto dominó’ que ha volcado todas las piezas del viejo mundo. Este experimento obligado durante los meses de confinamiento no ha perdido fuelle, y está dando paso a un futuro híbrido a medio plazo que combinará la operativa en las oficinas y los hogares. Concretamente, en España, el 14,5% de la población con empleo trabaja en remoto en la actualidad. Esto implica a 2,86 millones de personas, lo que supone un incremento del 74% con respecto a la era precovid, según datos de Adecco. Todo un caso de éxito, tal y como aprecia el analista principal de IDG Research, Alberto Bellé, si tenemos en cuenta que las organizaciones locales no estaban especialmente preparadas para este escenario. Cifras del INE (Instituto Nacional de Empleo) muestran que apenas un 27% de éstas había explorado dicha fórmula con anterioridad; y en su mayoría eran grandes cuentas que fomentaban el teletrabajo de manera esporádica. “Este cambio de ciclo pone en valor el esfuerzo que han hecho los equipos de TI para que no se pare el país. En términos de ‘sanidad tecnológica’, han echado el resto”, asevera el experto.
No obstante, este hecho de máxima urgencia, extrapolado a otros ámbitos vitales como la educación, exige ahora un replanteamiento del paradigma venidero. Durante estos últimos 12 meses también se han puesto de manifiesto las brechas de acceso, seguridad, conectividad y confianza, lo que afrenta a empresarios y poderes públicos a reorganizar todos los detalles de esta nueva sociedad para generar mecanismos de win-win. Y, es que, tal y como afirma Enrique Dans, asesor de innovación y nuevas tecnologías en IE University, la digitalización se ha acelerado en años durante pocas semanas. “Y, esto encierra, en muchas ocasiones, un problema de cambio cultural”. Una cultura que, reflexiona Mara Balestrini, doctora en ciencias de la computación por University College London, debería orientarse hacia el ser humano. “Por ejemplo, en este caso sobre el empleo remoto, se ha demostrado que la nueva operativa genera más productividad, pero habría que ver si en este proceso no sufre la innovación, relacionada a la creatividad y las reuniones físicas. Además, es nocivo estar ocho horas seguidas frente al ordenador, por lo que si el teletrabajo ha llegado para quedarse hay que diseñarlo de tal manera que sea buena para los trabajadores. Quizás, en dos o tres años se generen niveles de estrés muy altos y daños a la salud provocados por este modelo. Hay que regularlo y ordenarlo en vistas a poner a las personas en el centro y no a los intereses empresariales”.
